Purchased As New
I am a college student and I was looking to purchase a car that would make my hard work and effort worthwhile and I found that there was no better car for me than this one. It fits every criteria that I could possibly ask for: power, attractive styling, comfort, interior space, trunk space, high resale value, excellent reliability etc. So what else is new? most people will tell you the same things about brand new hondas. So far I have put about 2,500 miles on my car and here is my honest review.
Pros: the coupe's styling makes the sedan look like a dad's car. This car falls nothing short of sexy and aggressive. The VCM (variable cylinder management) allowed me to travel about 350 miles on the highway and use only 75% of a full tank. Despite being a coupe, the back seat space is more than adequate for two adults and, in most cases, three. The S sport mode on the auto transmission allows me to go incredibly fast! using the paddle shifters I could travel at speeds of about 55 mph at only second gear!
Cons: fuel economy takes a serious turn for the worse in city driving. I hate admitting to this, but i guess it comes with the v6 package.
While I absolutely love stepping on the gas and feeling the thrill of the VTEC boost, the throttle response has a lag that makes the car jolt into the high RPMs. In other words, its a choppy transition. If I werent aware of the functionality of the VTEC feature, I would wonder if something was seriously wrong with the engine, but since I am aware that the engine undergoes a change in cam profile I guess I have to live with it.
The default auto-lock settings are way too fast! I locked my keys in my car once because the car locks itself after about 15 seconds, which is absurdly quick in my opinion.
There is no indicator light to tell you that the front hood is open.
Compared to the highly digital readouts on 2012 civics (even the most basic civic trims) the Accord (without the navigation system) has a very primitive digital display. I feel that the $30,000 could buy me a slightly better display on the center dashboard. don't believe me? sit in a new civic and take a look at the color digital display.
So overall what else can I say that you don't already know about hondas? Time will show me other pros and cons intrinsic to the car design and engineering, but as of now, my car is a supercar in my eyes.
