My 03 Honda Accord EX V6 currently has 227,000 miles on it. I plan to drive it to 500K miles. Overally, I like it, it is very easy to fix and maintain. I buy replacement parts online at hondapartsnow.com or on ebay and I fixed almost everything myself. At 150K miles, the transmission failed seriously and cost me $3,300 for a rebuilding job. I also replaced the rack & pinion, lower arm controls, tie-rod ends, shafts around that time. I changed the radiator at 200k, alternator at 215k, thermostat at 175k, all water hoses. The front and rear catalytic converts, each cost $300+, were replaced at 175k.
Overally speaking, the car runs well for the 1st 100,000 miles; after that, many parts break down or extremely worn and no longer work as expected, I then had to replace many parts. The parts are easy to buy, relatively not very expensive; the procedures to replace the parts are simple enoungh for an amateur mechanic like me to perform. I changed timing belt myself two times for the car.
The transmission failure is the most disastrous problem to remember.
I would recommend to everyone to buy this car; however, you should have professional transmission-specialized shops such as AAMCO transmission to regularly inspect, maintain that component, which is likely to fail after 100K miles....read morehide
