It is a good car, very economic and wonderful gas mileage especially because I travel 45 miles (round-trip) to work every day.

- Very good fuel economy, good family sized car
- Numerous interior rattles, awkward dash instrumentation
When looking for a family sized 4 door sedan, I decided on a 2004 Accord Dx. Other cars I had looked at included the Toyota Camry, Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, and the Chevy Impala. It provides a very good value for the money, but it does have some faults.
The most irksome is the numerous interior rattles, mostly from the windows, headliner and dash area. Repeated trips to the Honda dealer hasn't solved the problem, and in talking to other owners it apparently is a common complaint. The dash instrument layout is a bit on the awkward side, Honda has a giant speedometer gage in the center, with a tachometer to the left and the gas gage and water temp gage to the right. All other engine functions are just hooked up to various idiot lights, something I thought died out in the 70's.
For a four cylinder and manual transmission, acceleration is adequate, shifting gears is smooth. 0 - 60 mph in about 8.25 seconds. The gas mileage is quite good, on average I have been getting 30 mpg in combined driving, with a tank of gas giving me a little over 520 miles of driving. The stock handling is on par with most sedans, nothing to get excited about. I have changed the car's coil springs, anti sway bars, and tire/wheel combo to give it an improved tighter and crisper ride.
Fit and finish were pretty good, upon delivery the left rear door needed to be re-adjusted for a better fit, and minor orange peeling was noted on the paint.
Overall, the Accord Dx is a very good value, it was cheaper than the above mentioned cars. The four cylinder Accords won't ever be mistaken for anything more than an economical family vehicle, and the Dx version has no extra frills on it, but unless you feel the need for those things it makes an excellent family car....read morehide
