- Great fuel economy, stylish, Honda reputation, Handles turns well
- Sunroof won't open/close automatically, can be sluggish, not the smoothest ride.
I bought an '06 EX-L after my '00 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL bit the dust before hitting 100,000 miles (that's GM for you). I was torn between this and the VW Passat. The decision maker was the increased cost of insurance on the Passat and the recommendation for premium gasoline in the VW.
The car looks great, has a pretty good ride, but is not as smooth as my Olds was. I downgraded from a V-6 to a 4 cylinder and can definitely tell. The fuel economy impresses me most as I'm averaging 29-30 mpg and while those are mostly highway miles, I tend to be driving 75-80 mph. It is comfortable to sit in and is laid out nicely. Handles curves and turns well, even at high speeds.
Here are the only complaints I have:
1-Doors don't lock/unlock automatically and I have not found a way to program it to do so.
2-Sunroof does not open/close automatically, so you have to hold the button down, which can be annoying (especially since the controls are to left of the steering wheel, so it required reaching forward while driving and holding it down).
3-There is a temperature gauge, but you can't see the temperature and the odometer at the same time (which is odd). Instead, you have to choose either the temp or odometer along with your A/B Trip Odometer.
4-The heated seats are controlled by a switch, which you must turn off yourself (it won't turn itself off when the car is shut off).
5-Rear center seat is a regular seat belt, not just a lap belt, so it makes car seat installation a bit trickier.
6-The horn beeps very loudly when locking the car, rather than a light beep or a chirp like Toyota's make.
Most of these are minor details, but things I have noticed.
