- Sleek new body. Nice leather and wood.
- Honda seems to have compromised quality to save a few dollars in the interior.
I owned a 2002 v6 Accord Coupe and absolutely loved it (I think it's the nicest Accord ever made) The only missing in it was heated seats which I don't really care for.
Now, the 2008 Accord also looks beautiful and finally has the heated seats. The leather and wood trim makes me feel like I'm in a higher priced luxury car. They finally moved the sunroof controls from the driver-side near the steering wheel to near the sunroof where they belong.
Overall, I think Honda did a great job with this new design. I didn't really like the models from 2003-07 and this new body is a huge step up. It resembles a 5 series BMW and the recessed accent line across the entire side and trunk is really cool.
There are a few SMALL problems I found inside:
I didn't get the navigation system so there is a screen that displays the radio settings, clock, compass, and climate control. But the screen is analog (stick figured numbers and words) and looks really cheap. I hated it at first but got used to it. I remember the 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante had a futuristic luxury screen compared to this one and that was 10 years ago. The speedometer dials are too simple. The transmission shifter and cupholder console area looks really cheap as well, plain black plastic. The armrest in the my 2002 Accord was dual-leveled, a small compartment on top for pens with a built-in change holder, and a big bottom compartment. This 2008 model only has one big compartment with a flimsy tray that I have spilled twice already and all my pens fell between the seats (what a pain in the neck). The 02 model had a change holder near the steering wheel that would slide out and securely hold the change and the 08 model has a simple insert with no cover so the change falls out when the road is bumpy, not cool. I just feel like Honda saved a few dollars where they could and compromised interior quality. I have read many reviews and no one seems to be bothered by these issues but as a Honda enthusiast I am unhappy with these little flaws.
I think its a nice car but the 2002 was still the best. Plus, the 2002 v6 was 200hp which was swift. The 2008 i4 is 190hp but it's not even close to the 2002. I guess the 2 extra cylinders explain that. I thought the 190hp i4 would provide a sufficient amount of power but I regret I didn't get a v6. I was trying to conserve on fuel, not power.
And whats up with the tail-lights?
