Purchased As New
I bought my Honda new in May of 2009, and love it. I don't know where all of these complaints are coming from. For example, the sticker said 19MPG City and 21 MPH Highway, so if you don't like the mileage, you were pre-warned. I have no road noise, brake noise, or other issues that were mentioned here. I don't particularly like the Factory Tires, but again, I don't hear any disruptive road noise. However, I will probably opt for a different tire when I relace the Factory Michelins, as these are too expensive. As an FYI, I live in Buffalo, and bought Winter Tires, and it handles perfectly in the snow with no road noise to speak of..
As for comfort, maybe I'm the right height/weight, because I find it very comfortable. I read about discomfort prior to buying the car and paid particular atttention when test driving it multiple times at multiple dealerships. I have to disagree with anyone who says the front drivers seat is uncomfortable. Maybe you should have gotten the leather seats. As for the seats having memory, that's not an issue with me because I don't let others drive my car.
I do agree that the spring loaded doors for connecting cell phones, etc. can be a pain, but come on...is that enough to give the car a 2 rating...I think not. I like the multi-function odometer...who needs the temperature continually on the screen. If it's cold it's cold, and if it's warm it's warm...I don't need to see every degree change. My only complaint is that if you have hard soles on your shoes, and hit the bottom of the inside door panels when getting out, you may leave a mark, thus the reason for my CON. However, that is the only thing I found that I would improve, and you can't see the botttom of the door panel unless the door is open anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.
I bought the 8 year 120k warranty, so don't worry about expensive repairs, and I have a mechanic that will work on it at a very resonable price if it ever needs repairs. It's a known fact that foreign cars are more expensive to maintain, so unless you live under a rock, you shouldn't complain for not doing your homework.
Yes, Honda's are a little pricey, but they retain their value, and the Honda was cheaper that the Toyota Camry, which I also tested prior to purchase (along with the Mazda 6). The Accord was hands-down the better feeling, driving, roomy, and better looking car. The Toyota felt cheap to me, and I didn't like the 2009 Mazda 6 body style, particularly the front quarter panels.
This car is a thing of beauty, and I get compliments on my Black on Black 2009 Honda Accord all the time, and am proud to own it. As someone else said, people think it's a Lexus or Beamer, and are surprised when they find out it's a Honda.
I would recommend the 2009 to anyone.
