I've owned a 2009 LX-P 5spd MT for 3 years now, purchased brand new. My first Honda. Am very happy with it and the main reason I had for trading it in for a new EX-6spd MT was the new transmission. I have a long hwy commute and figured this would be a good move. However, while I wasn't able to test drive an EX with MT, yesterday I took an LX with MT for a spin. And, all's great about this car, except for the tranny! I imagined lower 5th and 6th ratios, but I was wrong. In fact, I did check afterwards that indeed the 6th gear ratio on this new Accord is even higher than the 5th on my old one. That is why I felt/noticed that the new engine was more revved in the 6th gear than mine is in the 5th. Not ideal for commuters like me who mostly keep the car in highest gear. I realize this is probably a market decision (as I suspect the closer together ratios improve city mpg), but, unfortunately, my next car won't be an Accord....read morehide
