- Great gas mileage, beautiful exterior, stylish interior, SMOOTH RIDE!
- None yet.
This is the first car I've ever purchased for myself, and I love it. It took a solid 3 months of research, test driving, re-test driving, and comparison shopping, but I'm convinced I made the right decision.
The Civic is the best value for the money - I looked at the new Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3, and Scion tC, and the Civic had most of the pros from all those models, and less of the cons. I was looking for something with a sporty exterior, comfortable interiors, some nifty features, a smooth ride, nice acceleration, and excellent gas mileage. I commute 100 miles a day in DC - enough said!
Scion tC - great acceleration (not the best on gas, nor the smoothest ride, and the interior looked a little cheap)
Nissan Sentra - the CVT is a speeding ticket waiting to happen; very smooth ride and GREAT features in the SL model (the only reason I didn't pick this car, other than not being able to afford all the speeding tickets, is because the exterior was a little too conservative for my taste)
Mazda 3 - great acceleration (not the best on gas, nor the smoothest ride)...read morehide

- Beautiful, beautiful car; EX comes with great extras; peppy acceleration
- Car roof is too low for taller people; somewhat uncomfortable seats
I bought this car one week ago and I have mixed feelings about it.
My first tank of gas averaged 26.5 MPG, with about 75% highway driving, but as that was my first tank, I am not sure how accurate that is. I hope that it gets up to the 30/40 range after a few fillups.
Everyone I drive by stops and gawks, so there is no denying that this coupe is a real winner in the looks department - but you don't need me to tell you - this thing is sexy! The extras that the EX provide are nice, especially the moonroof and steering wheel audio controls. I feel confident passing cars at highway speeds, and the engine is more than enough for everyday driving.
However, if you are a tall person, this car may not be right for you. During my 10 minute test drive, I felt fine, but as the week went on, I felt less and less "at home" in the car. The legroom for me is just alright, but my concern is the headroom - I am 6'1", and I cannot sit upright in the car, nor can I find a seating arrangement that works for me. I think this has to do with the moonroof - it does take up about 1" of the ceiling. The seats are quite stiff and do not have effective lumbar support. After more than just a short trip, my lower back is in pain. I wish they had put in lumbar adjustments into this car. A small pillow does help a little bit. I am seriously considering returning this otherwise great car beacuse of how uncomfortable I am in it.
Overall, I'd say if you are under 5'11", there is no reason you should not get this car. It's sexy, performs great, and is a pretty good value. My first week's mileage wasn't that great, but I'm hoping it goes up. But if you are taller than 6', I'd strongly suggest you look at a bigger car, or spend more time test driving it to see if it really fits you....read morehide

- Good fuel economy
- transmission not smooth, low road clearance, cheap bumpers
I've had problems with the 5-speed AT. It's has difficulty shifting down between 20-30 mph after higher speeds -- the car rattles. Also, the low clearance in the front bumper constantly scrapes -- I've had the bumper pulled completely out a couple of times in the last year and had to take it to the shop. Have others had these problems?...read morehide

- Great fuel economy, interior quality, honda longevity, great value, great sound system
- Driver-side leg room is a bit cramped for tall people
I expected the great fuel economy, but was surprised at the acceleration. I traded in my Camaro for this car. The engine is so quiet, you don't realize how fast you are going. I got a speeding ticket on the way home from the dealership. I guess I should pay attention to the two-tier instrument panel...Sound system is great...Handles really well in wet weather as well as dry...I am 6'3", so the leg room is on the small side, but nothing I cannot get used to. I was a little surprised the headlights do not turn on automatically...This is the first time I have purchased a foreign car. (But at least Japan is our biggest ally in Asia.) I am happy all the air bags and safety features are standard as opposed to American companies making you pay extra. I would absolutely recommend this car to everyone. The exterior and interior styling is amazing for a $20,000 car. I am excited to even drive to the store now that I have this car....read morehide
