2008 Honda Civic Coupe
There are 10 user reviews for the EX 5-Spd MT trim shown below
- MPG is outstanding, Perf is acceptable, features impressive
- peripheral vision to the rear-sides is limited
Actually I bought the 2007 model, but it's the same. Am getting 43MPG highway - consistently. Ride is good, a little noisy but mainly from road not the engine. Driver's seat needs a lumbar support is only interior complaint. Otherwise this car is rock-solid, looks good, and the value is superior to just about everything else....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, looks, fun to drive, handling.
- Compromised visibility, underpowered when running A/C.
I think this is one of the few cars that delivers more than the manufacturer promises. I'm averaging 35+ MPG in combined driving. I have yet to take it on a trip to see highway MPG, can't wait. This is a fun car to drive and is very comfortable. The stick works flawlessly and the engine is smooth. There is a noticeable drop in power when running the A/C. Otherwise, the power is fine, even when climbing substantial hills. Visibilty is slightly compromised by the large frame around the windshield which creates some blind spots. There is also some dashboard reflection on the windshield in daylight. This can be eliminated if you wear polarized sunglasses. Overall, the negatives pale in comparison to the positives. This is a great car at a great price that will keep on giving with gas prices topping $4 per gallon....read morehide

- Excellent fuel economy. well equipped. Good looking little red ride.
- none to speak of
This is my 3rd Honda. I had a 1977 Civic and still own a 91 hatchback civic which is my second honda. That car I bought brand new and still runs great. Unfortunately I will have to sale it. Its a great little car that I have used as a daily driver for 17 years. I just needed a change. After having 2 Honda's in a 31 year span and knowing that for the money you get a very reliable and well built car, I purchased my 2008 2 door coupe. I love this car. It handles well, has plenty of power for what I need not to mention probably more equipment then I actually ever use. As Honda's are it's very practical. On the car's maiden voyage test drive I was getting 40 mpg on the open road and in city driving I am getting 32. I would recommend one to anybody....read morehide

- great look. great MPG. great everything.
- clutch lag
i absolutly LOVE everything about this car. i have the 08 MT coupe, and i have been reading some of these reviews and am wondering if were all talking about the same car??
i do not have any engine rattling, no seatbelt vibrations, or vibrations of any sort.
and i do get an average of 37 MPG city highway combined. and no i dont drive like an old lady either. hahaha.
the only problem i see is that there is a little clutch lag. when you shift into second or third, there is a small delay on the gas pedal, so the car thinks the clutch is still engaged, and spikes your RPMS. its literally a spit second delay, and does NOT always happen.
also, when getting accustomed to the car, starting from a dead stop can be a little frustrating, the gas pedal is pretty touchy for being low on power haha.
i dont care how great you can drive a MT, the new civic does take some getting used to.... but once you get the hang of it, its a really great little car....read morehide

- It's a pretty car inside and out
- POPS OUT OF 2ND GEAR, no lights in vanity mirrors, & False mpg advertisement!!
This is my first Civic, I purchased it May 2007. I love the way it looks, but I have had some issues with this car!
I have had TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH IT EVER SINCE I PURCHASED IT!! Every now and then I will take off from a stop, shift into 2nd gear and as soon as I let off the clutch to accelerate, 2nd gear pops out into neutral and my rpms shoot up. Sometimes it acts like it doesn't want to go into 2nd gear. When it does finally go into gear it'll jerk sometimes. I have read reviews online and I know I'm not the only one. So, think carefully if you're considering the MT.
Everything sticks to the cloth seats, and I mean EVERYTHING!!
It doesn't have lights in the vanity mirrors :-(
I don't get the 30/40 estiimated mgp. I get 25/30, don't let the advertisers fool ya!!...read morehide

- Unsurpassed QUALITY, HOLDS VALUE!, A+ fuel economy, great interior, solid on the road, fun to drive
- Stereo button layout takes a while to get used to
There's the old saying that if you change the oil regularly in the Civic, it will run forever! I bought this car brand new with 3 miles on it. I now have over 3200 miles. I've owned 2 Civics prior to this, and I've loved them all. I've put over 150k on each before selling them--and they've all run perfectly without any major issues. I look forward to 'driving the wheels off' this one too.
Certainly a good buy. Best car for the money. Period....read morehide

- great fuel economy, unsurpassed quality, fit and finish, awesome handling, very fun to drive
- noisy stock tires
I'm 6 foot 4 inches tall and with my back rest down a litle, fit quite comfortably in my coupe. I normaly do not write reviews about things I own, but I'm so pleased with my Civic I wanted to. At 45.000 miles I replaced the front brake rotors for sloted EBC because I worped the stock ones. Milege wise I get as low as 30 MPG when towing my trailer with a bike on it. Going to work and in the city I average 36 MPG. On the road I get as high as 42 MPG. I have tried K&N short cold air intake, my throttle response worsened slightly and my milege went down by 5 to 6 MPG. Needles to say I went back to stock. Tire noise went away as soon as I bought a set of touring Michelins with 60,000 mile warrranty including road hazard ( I saved $150 by bying at Costco over Big O tires).
I'm big on buying US made to keep jobs in this country. However, with my experience with domestic car and motorcycle manufactures I'm forced to make an exception. Honda has earned a customer for life....read morehide

- Good fuel economy
- Rattling noise the back window
I like the car however the rattling noise in the back window is really annoying. I took it to the dealership twice and they are not able to fine the problem.

- i will be able to trade it in a year
- seat comfort, have already had it in the shop 3 times for the same thing (rattle in the back window)
i also had to take it in because the a/c stoped working, and they told me that something in the road went through the radiator and put a hole in the a/c pipe and it was not covered under the warranty (it cost me almost $800.00 to fix it) this will be my last honda
be smart don't buy this car
