- fuel economy, tight steering, dependable, appearance
- IMA battery, pricey, pick up
Purchased As New
I bought this car brand new. I expected to get the sticker fuel mileage. I was able to exceed the EPA estimate for a few years, then came the "updates" to the IMA battery. I lost about 33% of my fuel economy. My IMA battery died after 6 years and luckily was still under warranty and I had it replaced for free. However, I never was able to achieve the fuel economy I had right after buying it. The car will still run with an IMA battery that has died, so that is a positive, you'll just lose some of your fuel economy. The cost to replace the IMA is obscene, about 3 grand. They need to find a way to make the IMA battery replacement more affordable. Another problem is that sometimes it has trouble getting up to speed on the highway. You hit the gas and it doesn't respond immediately, especially if the air is running. But other than that this car served me well for over 7 years. I give the value two stars because I paid extra for the hybrid version and the IMA battery replacement costs eat up your fuel savings in the long run. However, It is one of the best gas mileage cars you'll see for that model year.
