2007 Honda Civic Hybrid

- Great fuel economy, low price, nicer looking than the Prius
- Only available in certain colors, leather seats/sunroof not options, slow uphill driving
I bought my Civic Hybrid in Feb 2007. It's a great car, although I would love it much more if it was available in black, leather seats, and a sun roof.
I average 42 mpg which is mostly on the highway. Acceleration is slow at first, however the car drives nicely at 60-70 mph.
If your main concern is the environment or saving money on gas, this is a great choice. The model is very basic, so if you want a car with a lot of cool extra features, this isn't the best choice....read morehide

- Beautifully made, solid, quiet, smooth ride, very good MPG, lower price vs. Prius.
- High price vs. regular Civic,
This is an amazingly well made car. We looked at Prius but did not like the bar obscuring the rear view, the lack of closed trunk and the much higher price vs. Civic. We have experienced mid-40 MPG under most driving conditions. A little adjustment in driving habits is required to get maximum MPG (no different than any car). The gauges help you adjust with instant fedback.
The Prius cars we looked at came with every bell & whistle add-on which drives the price up thousands of dollars. This is very annoying....read morehide

- fuel economy is not as good as posted on sticker
- Too much road noice.
I am thinking about getting Toyota Prius. Civic's ride is not smooth at all. I can feel every bump on the road.

- Great safety ratings, better than Prius, avg 47.5 mpg
- Hard to see out back (compared to SUV I had previous)
I have been averaging 47.5 mph (not 49-51 as advertised), but I drive mostly highway miles (49mpg advertised). Averaging about 450 miles before filling up, (approx 9.4 gallons) Inside comfortable for "small" car. Wish it came in leather. Chheper than Prius with better safety rating and sportier look....read morehide

- 45-48 mpg, 2-tier dash, front design gives car a "roomy" feel, re-designed console area
- Slow to accelerate; must pay close attention to driving habits to get maximum fuel economy
Bought this car primarily for its fuel economy and the fact that Civic Hybrids allow you to drive in the HOV (carpool) lanes in my state. The carpool lane saves me approximately 10-15 minutes per day in travel time. The limitations (e.g. slow acceleration) were known prior to purchase. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of the vehicle and would definitely recommend to anyone with a medium-long commute to work each day....read morehide

- green, same nice styling as gas civic, aux plug for mp3 players, tax credit
- "auto stop" shudders, weak a/c, road and tire noise and some engine vibration thru steering wheel
i can not get used to and do not like the shudder that occurs when car slows to stop (auto stop).
poor cost/benefit ratio due to premium price for hybrid technology.
first three tanks of gas average 35 miles to the gallon.

- MP3 Jack and lots of plugs to charge with
- Horrible MPG for a hybrid
I traded in my 2005 Civic Hybrid for the 2007, hoping that they fixed some of the flaws. Now, my MPG has gone from a consistant 40+ to a dismal 30. After contacting the dealer and trying all his suggestions: use a different gas station, don't go above 2500 RPM, no AC, and wait out the first 1,000 miles. He decided that I just do not know the correct way to drive a hybrid, although I have now driven one for over 2 years and had no issues with the MPG in my last vehicle. My driving habits and location have not changed.
I'm thinking I might have a lemon or the battery connection is flawed. At my first oil change I will force the dealer to run a complete diagnostic on the battery to determine if it is me or the car....read morehide

- I like the styling
- low MPG compared to what's advertized.
I bought this car suppossedly for the good MPG. I just used up my first full tank of gas. I'm only averaging 34+MPG. It was advertized at 46/51 mpg. Needless to say I'm very dissapointed. I thought I will give up some features as long as I get a good MPG but so far I think I settled for a lemon....read morehide
