- Good Fuel economy, New interior design, Alloy wheels/Sunroof Standard, 5000 mile oil changes
I recently traded my 99 civic lx for a 2005 civic ex sedan. Honda has significantly fixed the engine/outdoor noise problem since the 2001 body style was introduced. I hit a hill on an interstate i take everyday the first day i owned my new ex, couldnt hear the engine working at all. This car is great for gas mileage. Its butt cold here in the midwest and Im getting 35mpg +. My old lx was getting 28mpg in the winter, a drastic improvement....can't wait for summer mileage count.
They also have significianly improved the instument panel, more in tune with todays "styles"....meaning no more pea grean tach/speedometer, all bright blue and white.
I owned an acura legend before my 99 civic, which had over 200hp under the hood. If you are used to power like that, dont expect this car to match it....and dont write reviews like "the power sucks, its nothing like my 2002 corvette"....no kidding, what were you thinking? The 05 ex has a vtec 127hp engine, well more than enough for its size. I will probably be an ex driver for life....read morehide

- great fuel economy, reliable car, effcient console compartment
- rough ride, very light weight, bad radio reception, small horsepower output in today's standard
Set the trend a few years ago with tall and roomy interior. Great fuel economy. Decent exterior design. Great big knobs for climate control. Decent head room at the rear.
Lightweight creates understeer during high speed turning. 115hp with no VTEC is noisy at high speeds, and not enough power compared to the competitors such as Mazda3 or Corolla. Suspension is not as good as before, sacrfricing the famous double-wishbone to make the middle rear more room is a negative move. The plastic wrap under the front bumper is useless and always kept loose....read morehide

- Drives good and plenty of power for such a shrimp car
- Honda charges to much for the wing or fog lamps, Pay for the name thing
Swapped from a 1997 Linclon towncar to the 2005 Civic EX sedan. I sure like the way it drives, and really love the handling. moon roof is the best feature for me, I will miss those cheap parts for the old Ford. Gas millege is not as good as they say. maybe 32 mpg mixed as EPA
