- Good fuel economy, great handling for what it is, lots of room
- Due to the new engine design, maintenance is fairly expensive for a honda. No more "do it yourself"
Even though the front end is stubby and ugly, the engine is pushed back closer to the front tires, so the tires have more grip during cornering. Even though this is a 4 door AT sedan, it has out performed most coupes on the track (In my experience). The ride is moderate, and the interior is nothing to brag about, but overall it is a very nice car. It is, however, a bit overpriced. We paid $20,000 for it when it first came out, which is only a bit less than a Subaru or Lancer Evo. It is by no means a track car, but it has kept up with honda's tradition of making a family car that can still perform like a coupe. Our civic only has 15,000 miles on it, so the long run tests have yet to be answered. If this model can provide the 200k+ reliability that we have come to love from hondas is the main question in my mind. It seems like the engineers went a bit over the top, straying from the simplistic design of the previous civics. It provides a nice ride, good gas miliage, and lots of room for the family.
