Purchased As New
i own a 2007 civic and thought this information might be useful for anyone considering a honda...this car has been through half dozen recalls...my air conditioning no longer works due to a blown compressor after four years of use...my tires had to be replaced after two years...needed a new battery after two years...and no one at honda responds...read morehide

- Good fuel economy, handling. Cool and practical instrument panel.
- Lack of power, particularly when cold.
We bought this Civic and a Mazda 3 at the same time. This car gets much better mileage (~36 hwy, 31 City) than the 3, but has a lot less power. It has a light touch, but is loose compared with sportier cars. It has decent power, but don't expect a sports car.
The front seat is comfortable, but the roof is a bit low in the back for tall riders (too bad for my son), but otherwise has good room for four. The telescoping steering wheel makes driving position good.
The heads up digital instrument display is easy to read.
So far, it's been very reliable. My previous Hondas have been good too.
This is a good looking, good value car. I recommend it highly....read morehide

- good fuel economy
- noisy, rough ride, cheap materials
I traded a Honda Civic VP 05 for a Honda Civic LX AT 2008, I drove it 2800 miles. I've been regreting my decision since day one. The Civic 08 looks nice from the front but the back is akwardly short (the back of your car is the part of the car you see the most). Interior is cheap plastic. The ride is very rough and noisy, I can feel every bump of the road. The dashboard is akward, it is probably the main reason why I will trade the car as soon as the warranty expires. I cannot stand the double dashboard, it is annoying and overdesigned. The sound system is very weak compared with the Civic 05.
I am looking forward to trade this car for a Toyota Corolla LE 2008, I drove it and it's by far a much better car than the Honda, it is cheaper and certainly is better built....read morehide

- rooomy, economical overall
- 30 mpg hwy, slightly hesitant till warmed up
Chose the Civic over the Accord 6 weeks ago when gas was at $3.50. Gas dropped 40% since then and I'm thinking I'd buy the Accord today. In 1500 miles I like the car overall but the comfort/ride isn't Accord/Camry-like and for a couple grand more, I'd take the comfort. If it got 36 hwy, I might feel different, but I'm getting Accord-like 30 hwy w/out the comfort....read morehide

- Fuel economy, surprisingly roomy, comfortable on long trips
- No remote trunk release; needs variable speed intermittent wipers
Have 6000 miles on my 08 Civic LX. Getting 35 to 38 mpg mostly highway driving. Best small car I've ever owned, and I've owned a Corolla, Mazda 3, and others. Very well equipped. I bought my own GPS for a lot less than a factory installed unit. Same with XM radio. I really like driving this car. Good pickup on the hiway. Not crazy about the location of the emergency brake lever lever. Lots of room in the back seat - much more than any other car in its class. Absolutely no mechanical trouble so far. Bought it from local dealer through the Costco vehicle buyers program. No hassles. Easy and a good price....read morehide

- MPG, looks, handling
- questionable reliability...E-brake location
OK, my second review. took it for its first oil change (5000miles) and the service center found an OIL LEAK! near the timing chain. Seems like some bolts were not manufactured correctly and it was fixed by the service center, under warranty ofcourse.
I like the car a lot, they way it looks and handles and ofcourse the gas mileage BUT hondas are not what they used be. my car only has 30% of the parts from japan(tranny) and the engine is made in the USA(that explain the leak and assemble issues). Many are reporting that the A/C stops working at stop lights(haven't experienced this) and these pesky leaks(engine , tranny, pwr steert bolts..), and finally the rear tire tread wear by faulty control arm. Honda needs to crack down on these issues otherwise, this will be my first and last honda....read morehide

- Great Car For Little Old Ladies
- Not a good value when compared to the Mazda 3
I bought this car for my 83 year old mother and she absolutely loves it. It is small, reliable, economical, underpowered, boring, and very easy to park. I shopped around and thouoght that the mazda 3 is a much better car for the money but mom insisted on the civic because she had one in the 1980's. oh well. She never goes over 35 mph and only drives it to church, the Hallmark shop, the neighbor's house and the supermarket...so the civic is perfect....read morehide

- Good exonomy - 30-32 around town.
- Didn't buy it sooner.
This is a great car. Good milage, good handling, enough power and a great dealer. I did alot of research and this is the best value there is for a car under 30K. Resale is terrific, has a great history of going 200k - 300k without problems and is not expensive. Lots of room inside, will carry four adults with ease. Even when it is 107 in Dallas like it has been this summer the AC worked to keep the car cool. I even like the dashboard layout and digital guages.
Ya, I would buy another one. Oh, that's right I did! I now have two....read morehide

- Styling inside and out, gas mileage, dashboard layout
- road noise, weak sound system
Going on 1,200 miles and I’m quite satisfied with the ’08 Civic LX. I am also a Toyota fan but the Civic’s ride versus the ’09 Corolla was far superior. Received 39.6 MPG on my last tank. Granted I’ve changed my driving habits (cruise control at 65 on highway, slow starts and coasting to a stop) but the mileage is fantastic.
One complaint … road noise, road noise and road noise. I’ve got to believe the Honda engineers can add sound proofing that won’t break the bank or add much weight....read morehide
