We have an '09 Civic EX sedan that was a 1-owner trade for new RAV4. The '09 model year offered a MCR(mid-cycle refresh) with updated nose & tail. We always try to buy a vehicle when it receives its MCR as you get more vehicle for the money than if you had bought it in the 1st 2-3 yrs, plus you often will benefit from upgrades that are now std equipment vs originally an option in yrs 1-3. The civic has been good to Honda & Honda has been good to the consumer. I prefer buying a car built state side or even in canada vs Mexico or elsewhere, and the 2-Honda's we drive are built 1-USA & 1-Canada. The '09 EX offers a sportier set of alloys, more refined front-end. The '09 civic sedan is as big as the '93-98 Accord was. We trade Accord EXL Sedan's every 5-yrs in yrs ending in 3 or 8 as the Accord has a 5-yr cycle & is brand new every 5-yrs.Our civic is also traded every 5-yrs but we wait until the MCR defined above, then trade that yr. mid-cycle, & is Honda CPO.'09 Civic is our daily local driver & the Accord is used for extended drives....read morehide

- Stylish, economical,great interior
- road noise, no rear wiper

Read alot of these reviews and decided to buy the 1.8s AT model here in Malaysia. Yes in many reviews they mention no rear wiper and road noise (some surfaces only) but after all that its a good looking car with a shape that wont age too much and when inside (I got leather interior fitted extra) it feels good long modern dash and lots of places for bits and pieces. Feels so good it makes me drive slower! I feel its very good build and I look forward to reliable driving, engine on hard acceleration sounds a bit rough but like the suggestion by an other review of A K&N filtercharger..It feels good to drive in an airy environment....read morehide

- Great Fuel economy
- Needs an additional 12 Volt plug and rear cup holders

I bought this car new. It has been nothing but great. On the highway it is smooth and the cruise provides a steady ride which gave me on one occasion 38 MPG. I like the idea of oil changes around 6,000 miles or so. The interior is great and the seat could use a lumbar support, but overall very comfortable. I currently have around 13,000 miles. It is very reliable and I will definately buy another Civic....read morehide

- Looks great, love the stereo system, great gas milage, roomy interior
- hard seats-unconfortable with long rides, no lumbar support

Great overall performance with the car. It has great gas mileage, looks great on the exterior. Love the dashboard with the digital numeric display of your speed. Love the maintenance reminder system- I get my oil changed about every 7500 miles. I drive this car everywhere I possibly can. The car does not like to go up steep hills or mountains - not sure if that is a 4 cyl. car thing. I have 27,500 miles on my 2008 honda civic EX and I just had to put brand new tires on it because they were worn down. The original tires are very bad in the snow and the dealer recommended that I get studded snow tires or to replace the tires all together. This car needs to have automatic lights that turn on and off when needed. In general, this car is very durable and a great car. I would buy another Civic EX in the future....read morehide

I own a 2007 Honda Civic EX (Auto. Trans) and am basing my review on two years of driving experience. I wasn't initially going for a Honda; but, I am so glad I did. I had wasted time test driving a Toyota Corolla and, to steal a phrase an auto reviewer once used, the Corolla is "geriatric" compared to the Civic.
I actually quite enjoy the futuristic styling and interior. I immediately thought the dashboard reminded me of being in the cockpit of a jet fighter! I agree with the other reviews that the angle of the windshield in relation to the short hood length makes parking a little awkward; however, you'll get used to it!
There were a few issues with the finish of the interior - I had a couple of trim pieces break and need replacing. As someone else pointed out, the quality of the radio system isn't super awesome. Even so, the interior is comfortable. The interior ceiling may seem low for some; though, it fits me (5'8") and my tall roommate (6'1") without a problem. I also appreciate the safety features (ABS brakes and all-around air bags) that came with this model. I am satisfied with the trunk space.
The cars drives well. I wish it had a little more "pick up" in the engine; but, if I wanted to be a race car driver, I would have bought the Si model! I purchased the car in 2007, right before the gas prices sailed through the roof, and I ended up being a huge winner! Lots of people struggled to pay for gas but, I felt fortunate that my trusty Honda Civic wasn't bleeding my wallet dry at the gas pump.
No car is 100% perfect; but, after two years of driving the vehicle, I am definitely pleased with my purchase. I don't regret it one bit and I would purchase again. This is a solid vehicle from a solid maker...and that makes it a solid choice!...read morehide

- Good fuel economy.
- Rough ride, poor breaking and handling --not your typical honda ride.
This reveiw is for a recently purchased 2008 EX Civic model-essentially the same as the 2009 version with the exception of some exterior cosmetics. I presently have approximately 800 miles thus far logged. I did not test drive on the ASSUMPTION that the car would be every bit as good as my previous Honda purchases. Shame on me. At $20K+ the car leaves much to be desired in almost every way from what I have come to expect from this "trusted" brand. Brake force requirement is high; road noise is an everpresent partner; the radio sounds like a hundred dollar installed aftermarket special - but most important is that the solid secure roadability so typical of the track bred Honda brand, a feature set that I have come to know and love and expected here, has somehow escaped this vehicle. I wouldn't go so far to call it a "tin box" but I would suggest that you test drive this baby before you take her home....read morehide
