I owned a 2002 Honda Civic Ex and at about 120,000 miles the transmission blew out. I recently bought a brand new 2011 honda civic ex and I feel like they didn't change the quality at all. I expected it to run better and sound better, but it definitely doesn't. When I accelerate it doesn't go very fast and the rpms shoot up, just like on my old Honda. When I am stopped at a light I know a quiet rattle which my old Honda NEVER did. It's not the quality I expected....read morehide

ok, honda claims their cars are reliable, fun to drive, performs well. Let me just tell them these are just complete scam and bull#$%, telling me the car is reliable is irrelavant because i changed the car's axle after 2 years; had to pay 400 bucks. 3 of my door switches are gone, passenger window will not roll up on master switch side. my A/C also stopped working. had to replace battery when dealer said its bad(costs $120). thank you honda.
now comes to fun to drive part, honda says their cars are fun to drive, which is like putting MSG in your soup to trick your toungue thinking its good. And then the car rides so damn hard n rough, sways and rattles on rough roads. Worse is when you hit a pot hole you will get a heavy impact on your neck and head. it just hits u.
the only thing you feel is their bad-design-stiff shocks which are not intended for automobile uses, their springs are really garbage and stiff, will not absorb bumps and impacts, shocks are made just ok to match their springs, but still dont absorb the impact, instead you will feel the bump n force hitting your head and neck area. also normally it bounces twice or more when hitting an uneven pavement. my dads toyota only bouce once at the street we normally turn onto.
they only made the back suspensions extra stiff so u think its fun to drive. trust me its not and please NEVER EVER install after market shocks, you will get brain damage or neck pain. if you have to replace the shocks, replace the springs also. only get expensive brand like Koni, BillStein shocks, or high end KYB. you will regret if you get regular after market shocks like Monroe, tokico, regular KYB. i wasted 2k on getting the right shocks for my 2004 civic.
also beware their windshield are ez to crack by rocks and pebbles. transmission will jerk, shocks are not as long lived as toyota or nissan. what a waste of my money and time. TEST DRIVE other cars before buying this one. I think Corolla, Focus, Sentra, or Optima are way better in terms of driverbility, comfort, and reliability....read morehide

This is my 3rd Honda, '85 Prelude, '93 Civic. All great cars. Honda will always be on option if the car meets the needs.

Honda Civic is not like before.
I am driving 2007 Honda Civic EX sedan.
My car is only 3 1/2 years old. Drove only 40,000 miles.
which means less than 1,000 miles / month
alerady replaced engine. (Engine Block Cracked)
Luckly, the warranty covered.
Sunvisor easily Broken.
I fixed it with my own money.
Could not pass the emission test at the first year.
(Honda dealer says I drove only short distance, give him more long distance drive. So, I drove 300 miles on highway. But, still failed. And I asked them to fix the problem. They fixed it. That costed another hundreds dollars. )
If you buy a Honda Civic, Think about 3 things.
1. Engine Block Crack (You better search it)
2. Sunvisor is Broken very easily.
3. You may pay extra money for the first time emission test.
In conclusion, Honda Civic is the Honda civic that I knew....read morehide

- Gas mileage OK
- Very disappointed . Will not ever buy anther one.

Extremely disappointed. Has given me lots of trouble. I bought it brand new in 2008 and ever since, a lot of things have been replaced. Dealer has been responsible enough to fix it under the warranty. One problem still exists, the sun visors have broken by themselves at least 4 or 5 times. Now they are broken again but dealer will not replace them anymore due to warranty expiration. I addressed this issue to Honda of America but they refused to investigate into the matter. The sun visor should be a recall matter . Before buying a honda civic , look into toyota first. A much better car than the Honda. I have had two of these vehicles(toyota) and they are still in great condition. My sun visors are working perfectly and they have never broken....read morehide
