I've been driving a 2012 Honda Civic coup for about 2 years now. I got it as a lease, and I'm impressed enough that I'm going to buy it....
Besides the con listed above -- and that the car runs on gas and isn't electric -- the Civic excels in everything you would need from a car.
I've gotten as high as 40 mpg driving to North Carolina with 3 other people on board and a fully packed trunk. Combined highway/city is 33 mpg. City only, 26 mpg.
During the 2013/2014 winter season, snow dumped on New York City pretty heavily. I was amazed at the traction it had! Lesser cars just don't have what it takes to parallel park here, where you routinely have to go over an icy, hardened mound of snow that accumulates on either side of the street from the snow plows. Cars from other companies of similar build struggle; SUVs struggle; mini vans struggle... but not the Civic! I never ONCE had to dig myself out!
Acceleration is out of sight. Like Chuck Berry sang in "You Can't Catch Me," you'll be gone like a cooooooool breeze....
The sound system is killer, once you turn down the exaggerated bass that makes even techno sound bad. You can hook it up to your ipod and shuffle through the songs via the steering wheel, but if you have one of those 160GB ones, it's absolutely impossible to hone in on what you want. You just gotta set it to shuffle and deal with it....read morehide
