- Biggest civic back seat ever. great gas mileage. smoother ride
- some road noise but better than old civic
Purchased As New
I have owned many cars, mostly mid size to big sedans. I wanted to have a car that is reliable and good on gas. I owned a 2010 civic for 1 year and was disappointed with the comfort levels, but they definately improved that with the 2012. The road noise is less and the back seat is bigger. I read that it's the biggest in it's class. One reviewer compared to a taurus and complained about the comfort, well that's not a fair comparison. you don't compare a taurus with a civic. Maybe an accord. Of course even then the ford will win. For the most part it depends on your priority. If you want more comfort but want to have problems in year 3 and beyond, buy the ford. If you want reliability and economy, buy the civic. I am averaging 37MPG and it's not a hybrid! I have 3 kids in the back on a daily basis (short rides to school) and they are comfortable. The new Imid info thing is a gimick, but I like it. I test drove the ford focus, the elantra and the cruz. The ford focus was the best ride and had great features, but if you check consumer reports, it wont last to 200k miles problem free as the civic will. Plus I liked the more mature stying of the civic. My neighbor said it looked like a cross between a camry and a mercedes from the back. Anyway, I know the critics panned it as not being stylish enough, but They said that about the 2006 model too. Civic is evolutionary not revolutionary. I'm sure my daughter will like the elantra styling better but I drove that and it did not feel as solid. Plus I like having the new model year ... it will look new for longer and help resale (not that I am going to ). I recommend this car if you value economy and reliability at the cost of a little comfort and style.
