Replaced an aging Corolla with our first Honda after test driving both. Corolla is the same car we had and the Honda with independent suspension was a superior ride on the road. Quiet and roomy for me 6'4". First road trip yielded 38.9 on road with A/C without ECON button. Averaging 27.5 in town. Second road trip was 40.9 with ECON engaged and A/C at 65 to 70 mph. Great ride, comfortable. Off to a good start with Honda. If reliable could be our best vehicle ever....read morehide

I wanted a fuel efficient and reliable vehicle, and that's what I got. I recently drove from Northern Indiana to Virginia Beach. I averaged 44.2 mpg on the 1600 mile round trip. So far I'm averaging 32-34 mpg in the city. I'm 6'5" tall and had no problem driving 800 miles in 12.5 hours. For under 20K I'm fine with the interior, I don't feel its "cheap" just economical. I can tell Honda was trying to keep the weight down for fuel efficiency. Doesn't have a lot of power but it is adequate....read morehide

- Pros
- Fuel Economy, Style, Smooth Ride
- Cons
- No Sun Roof

I bought this car brand new and it has been worth every penny. I love my Civic! It was an upgrade from my 1998 BMW 318ti which after 14 years has done its duty. I needed something reliable and wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to maintain as the BMW turned out to do. This car is so cute. I love the new style of this car from previous years. I wanted a car with a manual trans so after some consideration, I decided on the Civic. My only qualm would be that it doesn't have a sunroof in the LX models. I wanted the manual trans without the SI price tag, so it wasn't a deal breaker not having the sun roof. Other than that, I love the car and will continue to enjoy driving it and the money that I am saving at the pump- holy cow! Now that is one of the best parts!...read morehide

- Pros
- fuel economy, cute little ride
- Cons
- the "cup holders" in the rear are not large enough, cheap looking interior
Purchased As New
I have had this little car since December 2011. I bought it to replace a 1998 Honda Accord LX. It doesn't have quite the power of the old Accord, but gets better mpg. Overall I really like the car. The biggest downside I have is that what they call cup holders in the back doors aren't big enough to put any drink that I have tried to put in it. You can put a bottle in it..barely but it sits crooked because there just isn't enough room. I have averaged 32-36 mph around locally and I live in the mountains with lots of hills, haven't taken it on a road trip yet to test out the econ button. The front headrests could be a little smaller so that it doesn't push your head forward, but this seems to be the new thing in all makes that I have ridden in. The interior carpet and seats is kind of cheap looking...actually not real carpet at all but more felt-like. Another thing that I think maybe the EX model civic has that I miss in the LX is the flip down console/armrest/cup holder in the back seat with the pass through. My old Accord had this and I loved that feature...especially with a kid in the back seat and a trip through the drive thru...nice to have a place for his drink that he can reach instead of having to reach down to the bottom of the door in a space that is too small for the cup....read morehide

- Pros
- 39 mpg for 1/2 city & 1/2 hiway
- Cons
- All digtal gauge are sometimes confusing

Got rid of my 12 year old Accord Coupe. I've had the Civic HF for a month now. It rides just as smooth as Accord Coupe & it has more room in the back seat as well as the trunk. Its easy to load my golf clubs/cart in the trunk since the lid of the trunk opens at the bumper level & I don't as high. I got the color polished metal metallic (grey). My 12 year old Accord had 150 hp & the Civic has 140 hp. As far as speed, the Civic might be a little slow than my old Accord....read morehide

- Pros
- Nice little car; comfortable, convenient, good gas mileage. Light electric steering works for me.
- Cons
- HandFreeLink Bluetooth system dangerously flawed
Purchased As New
Nice car, but do not use the HandsFreeLink with many of the phones Honda lists as compatible (I have linked this to at least recent Motorola phones such as the Droid Razr and its twin the Razr Max). The system fails sporadically, usually on initiation of a call (incoming or outgoing), drops the link and then repeatedly drops and reestablishes the Bluetooth link with the car. Your call bounces back and forth between the phone and the HandsFreeLink speaker phone. Since it works well most of the time, the temptation will be to use it, but the more than weekly failures are distracting enough to cause an accident. When I speak to the dealer they recognize the problem but there is nothing they can do. When I contact Honda they are very polite, but seem intentionally unhelpful. At the very least they need warn users about phones that appear compatible but will cause an accident for someone down the road. Cars last on the order of 10 years and phones 2. They are now in the consumer electronics business and need to support this product at least as well as $400 PC (imagine your PC dropping its network connection and the manufacturer not fixing the problem...). They need to fix this. The Razr is not an obscure phone. Honda corporate seems intent on not understanding....read morehide

- Pros
- Great fuel economy. High safety ratings.
- Cons
- Road noise is evident if you don't have the radio on.
Purchased As New
This is a very safe car. I don't know why they don't list Bluetooth as a safety feature. The grouping of the gauges is excellent. You can watch the gauges, read the messages, and use Bluetooth with hardly turning your head. Everything is right in front of you.

Had my 2012 Civic EX with Navigation for almost a month and about 950 miles. Anything would have been a huge step up from a rusted-out noisy 1991 Geo Prizm with 205k miles. Love the Polished Metal Metallic with tinted windows!
Pros: Appearance, Comfort, Ride, Fuel Economy, Audio System (even if a subwoofer and/or upgrade to the Si 360 watt system is not available)
Cons: No power seats, no factory-installed fog lights (they cost about $700 as a dealer-installed option between purchasing the kit and paying for the approx 4hrs of labor), only driver window has the AUTO feature, required to spend almost $2k to get heated side mirrors as part of the EX-L trim level, remote starter costs about $900 from the dealer (I will likely have this done aftermarket for about $300), no RDS on FM radio stations, no scrolling of music information, sunroof and windows do not close when you lock the vehicle from your key fob, audio system could be nicer (wish the Si version was available for the EX), a scrolling wheel on the steering wheel would've been nice for XM Radio channel surfing iPod shuffling, Letters on the touch screen would've been nice to search for iPod music (like in the Dodge Journey SUV - touch the letter and albums, artists, or songs beginning with that letter appear), no backup camera (which I think should be included on ALL new vehicles), wing spoiler costs about $700 - I still might spring for one yet - but you would think that after writing a $24,000 CHECK for the car, they would throw something like that in for nothing.
Recently ordered the door visors/rainguards - just need to get them installed (hoping that the dealer waives any labor costs - about 1hr time required).
OK so the "Cons" are way more than the "Pros" but I am still very happy with my purchase. I also test drove a Chevy Cruze LT with RS package and a Ford Focus SEL. The Cruze was nice but I would've grown tired of the bumpy ride due to the sport-tuned suspension in the RS package and I just didn't like the Ford Focus - the radio and instrument panel were ugly with a Capital F!! I just read what Consumer Reports had to say about the new Civic and I disagree wholeheartedly, but I probably should've at least given Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, and Subaru Impreza a chance! Bottom line: I love my Civic and would recommend it (not to mention the literal $24,000 bottom line LOL)....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

We replaced a 2009 Civic (totaled for us by a careless driver) with this car, and just shy of a year into owning it, we love it!
We don't speed (more than 5mph over limit) or stop/start suddenly, so the Civic is rewarding us: We average 36mpg around town, and 40-41mpg on highway trips. Better than the 2009, with a much improved stereo, nicer upholstery, better seats, moon roof, and Bluetooth!
We read the Consumer Reports reviews of the car before test driving it, and have yet to see any of the "choppiness," weak breaking, appearance, interior or other reported "problems" with the car nearly a year on.
We cannot recommend it highly enough!...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
