2007 Honda Civic Si Coupe

- Handles beautifully, great acceleration for N/A 4-cyl, slick interior & sound system
- Issues w/3rd gear, bad for commuters who deal with heavy traffic, clutch feels a bit flimsy
Purchased As New
Take this car onto a windy back road and you'll be in heaven. The handling is outstanding and the acceleration (once you get to around 6k RPM) will really surprise you for a N/A 4-cyl. Nice, close gear ratio, keeps the car in the power band when pushing it hard. Stops on a dime.
I've been having the "3rd gear problem" since a few months after I bought it (now at 50k miles). Usually only occurs in cold weather under heavy acceleration. You shift right into the gate but it will pop right out & grind. Honda won't fix it unless they admit to it happening while their tech is driving the car (fat chance). Changed gear oil & problem disappeared for a few months, not sure if this was coincidence. Otherwise no issues whatsoever from maintenance perspective. Great ride for $20k!...read morehide

- Engine, Horsepower, Weight, Features, High Redline
- Torque, Visibility going around curves, Looks too much like a regular Civic
Purchased As Used
This is an amazing, underrated, car. It's one of a kind, there's nothing else like it on the market here in the U.S. Most other cars in it's class are boosted so it's good that there's an N/A choice out there. It is the only car in it's class with an 8k redline. The only real bad things about this car is it's low torque and that it looks too much like a regular Civic. Overall performance is great. It's not fast in a straight line, but it's amazingly quick on winding roads thanks to it's great handling. For the price you can't really go wrong, especially if you want something that's different....read morehide

- Sharp looking car, precise steering, great brakes, fast!
- Wish it came in Auto Transmission, some blind spots
I own a black Si. Love the color but hard to keep clean. Great on gas. Definitely great performance and features for the price. This is my first Honda and I am now a Honda Fan :-) The 6-Speed MT is great and fun to drive except in rush hour. The constant shifting can be grow tiresome and I only wish Auto Transmission was available in the '07 model. I've taken this car to Kentucky and back. Great on the highway with impressive pickup on the top end. Surprisingly comfortable. The car has a couple of blind spots on the sides of the front and rear window. In the Florida sun, it is hard to use the moonroof with the sun beating down in the hot black interior so I only use it on cloudy days and in the evening. The 350 watt stereo sounds great! My overall impression of my '07 Si is that I am in love with it :-)...read morehide

- Looks, Speed, Corners Fabulous, Shifting easy, Economy, Pocket Rocket!
- Humidity is a problem for windows (I live in New Orleans).
Have driven many sports cars over the years. And couldn't wait to test drive this little car after reading about it. Enjoyed Car and Drivers review. So as soon as I took it out for a spin I knew it was mine. Bought it and have owned for 2 months now.
A joy to shift! Have had no problems in 3rd gear. This car really is a commuting fabulous ride. Easy to park. Have already played cat and mouse with a 2007 mustang, he couldn't cut through traffic as quick as me. I bought the blue coupe and am adding fog lights and other goodies to it.
Great ride....read morehide

- Handling, Power, Value for the Dollar
- Notchy 3rd Gear, Cold Start Hesitation
I love this car. Have owned many high performance cars since 1969, and the Si is amongst the best. Regarding the Cons: A high performance engine such as the K20 is typically very sensitive to differences in the fuel it is fed. The hesitation I have experienced is simply due to the fact that the weather has gone from unseasonably warm to extremely cold in the NE, and the gas retailers are still pumping Summer Blend fuel, which is less volatile than Winter Blend fuel. If you have the same issue with hesitation, I suggest that you purchase from a retailer that sells in high volume. Also, DO USE a "Tier One" rated fuel, as Honda recommends (as does Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, and Corvette). I use Shell Premium, and swear by it, based on prior experience (don't take my word for it, research the benefits of a Tier One fuel. It does work). With respect to the issues I have read about the trans popping out of 3rd gear, I have not had that experience. I do encounter a problem getting the trans into 3rd gear when the car is cold; I must use a bit of force to ensure it is fully engaged prior to letting out the clutch. It is much better when warm, but nowhere as slick as shifting into any of the other gears.
Regarding the Pros: You (or me), could pay 3 times as much to attain a similar level of performance AND sophistication. I feel sorry for those that so did. They failed to recognize that being frugal does not mutually exclude being wise....read morehide

- You do stand out in the crowd. Limitied production. Great mileage. God speed for being a stealth car
- You can get carried away with the extras..HFP stuff..spoilers..wheels..tires..all good but pricey!
All my friends and family looked at me quite funny when I told them I was waiting for a CIVIC. Being quite a car buff and motorcycle speed freak they all said "What on earth are you doing with a Honda Civic?".
I have in my family's toy chest (garage) a Infiniti G35 coupe (2003), a Maxima SE (2000), a Honda Accord EX (1998), and a Toyota X-runner (2006). All of them 5 speeds / 6 speed manual transmissions. I have 3 motorcycles.. 2003 100th anniversary Fatboy...2005 Yamaha Vmax...and 3 month old Kawasaki ZX-14....so........
I wanted something I could use as a daily ride with good gas mileage and most of all have a good time with. I was disappointed in waiting so long for the car to come in... (3 months)... but it is worth the wait. Driving it around town is easy. It shifts easily and with a good short throw. The nay sayers will talk about torque but you have to know the power band my friends. My SI will move willingly from gear to gear smoothly and with speed that is truely uncommon for such a economy car like a Civic. It is the first car I've owned that combines economy with proformance. But it is a driver's car. If you like to run through the gears with gusto and not draw too much attention. This is the one.
It will head down the road with you smiling and singing a happy tune.
OK ...so my SI will not go 0-60 in 2.8 seconds like my ZX-14 but if you want a stealthy pocket rocket that will knock your socks off... Go get one...or go wait for one... I researched the car and compared it to all the others like the GTI (Not the best parts network / dealer in my area. and the Mazda Speed3 (5000.00 over list?)..I guess that is why my SI was COTY 2006. It has all the safety features too..Honda has a good safety reputation and service record. Because of the limited production I trust my SI will hold its value in the future. In a way I am glad Honda did not flood the market with these SI's. I get to be one of few to enjoy the ride.. You could too..This is one fun car! God Speed brothers and sisters!...read morehide
