Purchased As New
I purchased this car last year, and so far I have not experienced any significant mechanical problems with the car. The engine, transmission, suspension and steering have all held up well under spirited driving, despite the fact that I have downshifted into 2nd instead of 4th a couple of times (good thing the car has an 8000 rpm redline).
I am disappointed, however, with the fit and finish of the car. Perhaps it was unwise to purchase a black car in Florida, but both sun visors split within the first six months. Then, the springs broke on the coat hooks, causing them to rattle around. There is no easy fix for this problem- the coat hooks are attached to a ceiling panel that also covers the side rear air bags. The dealer replaced both, but now the passenger side hook is hanging loose again. I am not happy about this, but I am going to wait until the very end of my warranty before I have any more repairs done to the sun visors or coat hooks. Honda knows about these problems, but they have not redesigned these components yet.
The most surprising flaw turned out to be the paint on the hood. One day, after washing my car, I noticed that the hood had hundreds of time cracks in the paint. The dealer had the hood repainted, but it's still distressing. I'm just fortunate that my dealer has been so good to me- it seems that not everyone has had the same great service that I have had.
