- Nice handling, gas mileage, overall performance, options
- "vtech kick" requires a lot of rpm=low torque
I bought my 07 SI back in November. I have no complaints after 6,000 miles of us. The gas mileage is about what the car states. If I drive all city streets I get 24-25. With highway I get on average 27-28. The handling on the car is excellent. It really hugs the road when going around curves. I have driven it through many Michigan snow storms and below zero temperatures without any problems of starting or handling.
I find the seats very comfortable. Lint and hair does seem to stick out on the fabric, but easily cleans off. The interior is spacious. My three year old son has plenty of room in the back with his car seat. It took a little while to get use to the split dash with the mph over the steering wheel and rpm meter below. Now when I look at it, it just makes sense. You don't hardly have to look down to check on your speed. The premium cd player/radio is nice. I am not one of those people who crank the bass, but the sound quality is good.
My only complaint is the low torque, but I knew that going in. To get the Vtech to kick it, you need to get up to 6,000 rpm. Even when it does, you won't be blown away. I don't generally rip on the car that hard to get up to that kind of rpm. The overall pickup is good enough for my purposes. I don't have any grand dreams of racing a Corvette or Mustang. Not as if this car could stay with the big boys. But it holds its own with cars in the same class. I do enjoy the the noise you get from the exhaust when acclerating and slowing down.
I did a lot of research before getting this car. For the price, options, mpg, and performance you would be hard pressed to find a better car out there. The Honda name brand will also keep the resale value of the car higher as well. I have read a few other reviews that say you can't find this car without paying several thousand over MSRP. I didn't find that the case at all. Every dealership I talked to had it for MSRP and a couple lower than that with deposit (although those were the nonrefundable ones). I found a nice silver one and bought it the day it arrived. I haven't regretted that decision since.
