This has been an excellent vehicle. For a 4-cylinder, it has good power and does very well in the hills. We love the crossover SUV for it's ability to haul stuff that cannot fit in a small-midsized car and the CR-V is no exception. It handles well. The only flaw that I can think of is rolling over bumps is a little bit harsher and noisier than other vehicles we've owned but still not that bad: others have been worse. Fit and finish are great and we've had absolutely no problems with the car. We'd definitely buy a CR-V again!...read morehide

This is my 3rd Honda crv. I never had a problem with any of them at all. My first Honda had 225,000 miles and ran like the first day i bought it. My second Honda crv had 263,000 on it and ran like a top. My 2008 is so smooth quiet sleek comfortable i could fall asleep driving it. What a amazing machine this is. Love em love em love em....read morehide

- Pros
- Good fuel economy at 25 mpg in mountains, usability, very nice all around
- Cons
- front brakes wore quickly, really only seats 4 comfortably

We live in the snowy mountains of western Maryland. We got the 2WD version of the CR-V and have had NO PROBLEMS handling the snow--with WINTER TREADS. For example, blizzard month of February 2010 brought 200+ inches of snow to our area. Never missed work once despite the 45 mins commute. The winter tread tires are a MUST though. Have a 2008 with 42K miles. Only maintanence has been brakes (other than usual oil changes, filters, etc.). Very happy with this vehicle. Highly recommend for small families or empty nesters....read morehide

- Pros
- Fuel Economy, Safety, Resale value
- Cons
- Blind Spot, Seats could be more comfortable
Purchased As New
I bought my 2WD LX CR-V brand new in June of 2008. Great gas mileage (23-25 city; 29-31 hwy).
I am really happy with the safety of this car, as I was in a really bad accident in October 2009. A lady going about 60 mph rear-ended me while I was at a dead stop...causing me to also crash into the car in front of me. For the severity of the crash (her full-size van's front half came completely off), my CR-V really held up better than expected and definitely saved my life. No one could believe the Honda took the crash that well. $14,000 worth of damage, but my CR-V was still worth around $19,000, so insurance had it fixed.
I have now been thinking about getting a bigger SUV (Pilot), only because I want something bigger now...but I really love my CR-V and will have a hard time giving it up. I think it is an excellent value, and is one of the few cars I would ever buy brand new....read morehide2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Comfort, safety, good gas mileage for an SUV
- Cons
- seat adjustments could be better for a short person
Purchased As New
I bought the 2008 Honda to replace an older (1999 Toyota Rav 4). At the time of purchase my commute was 220 miles round trip and I needed a reliable AWD vehicle that would handle well in winter. This vehicle fit the bill and was the most comfortable and best equipped for the price. I tested Toyota Rav 4, Lexus IS 250, Subaru Forester and Toyota Matrix before deciding on the Honda. I did purchase an additional set of winter tires, primarily for the hill climb in my own driveway. It has a steep grade and is narrow, the tires gave me the traction needed for Wisconsin winters. The only downside for the winter tires is the TPM sensor which needs to be calibrated separately each time I swap tires since the winter tires are on rims with sensors. I average 26-28 mpg even with the winter tires and never get lost thanks to the navigation system.
My only con is the seat adjustments, I am short and wish the seat height adjustment was a little greater. In the grand scheme of things - that is minor. Seat heaters and driver side lumbar heat is great for long commutes....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Good fuel economy, just right size, fit, and finish, Honda quality, resale value
- Cons
- No hybrid option...Yet?

I am a big guy (5'11'' - 290lbs) and initally assumed the CR-V would not be right for me (owned a '98 Dodge Intrepid ES before purchasing the CR-V). I couldn't have been more wrong. As soon as I sat in the driver's seat, I felt very comfortable. I knew about Honda's reputation for quality and versatility for many years and am glad that I am now a proud owner. This vehicle (EX) has all the right features, size, and creature comforts of any vehicle in its class as well, larger, more expensive classes; just better for the price payed. Living in N. Nevada, I have had the opportunity to drive in snow and ice several times and must admit, the CR-V handles great! No slipping and sliding like that of my fellow larger SUV-owning comrades on the road. If I have one request for Honda, it would be to transplant a similar hybrid powerplant found in its Civic sibling under the engine bay of this fabulous vehicle. Honda has hinted to this. I can hope the company's next-gen will incoporate this powertrain as a viable option as well, give our big-3 friends in Detroit the opportunity to incoporate similar innovations toward its future products. then again, I did say I can only hope......read morehide

I love my CR-V. Made a good decision in March 2008 when I traded in my 1998 Chevrolet Lumina.

Was this review helpful to you?
- Pros
- Reliable, well-built, good mpg, versatility, no problems mechanically
- Cons
- A bit noisy, large blind-spot in the back
I've had this car for 2 years and over 40K miles and not a single problem. Just oil changes and one 30K mile maintenance. If you drive a lot and keep your cars for over 5 years- get a Honda.
