2013 Honda CR-V

- Reliable, fun to drive, versatile
Purchased As New
This is a well built, dependable car that gets good mileage.
After 60,000 miles have finally replaced tires and battery . Use Mobil One and change oil every 10,000 miles or one year. Sure beats my Mercedes which was in the shop every month for at least $500 to keep it running.

- Drives well, looks good,
- EXTREMELY LOUD ROAD NOISE, Over Priced, Poor GPS, Recalls Already
Purchased As New
Having owned more than 10 Honda's over the years, I must say I am extremely disappointed in the new CRV EX-L Nav.
Coming out of a 2004 Accord EX-L Nav the new CRV is a real let down. The road noise is unbearable, one cannot take a trip without getting a headache. I think my airplane is quieter, and I have to wear headsets in the plane.
The radio has to be turned up very loud in order to be able to hear it on the highway. Honda has disabled much of the gps functionality while the vehicle is in motion, and not even the passenger can use it. You have to constantly switch between pressing on the screen to pushing the button under the steering wheel for voice input. (This switching back and forth makes the system unsafe.) Then the voice input does not work because the vehicle is so loud. If you receive a call over the blue tooth, the caller cannot hear you over the road noise. People think you are talking to them in a wind storm or at a race track. It is sometimes impossible to make a call due to the noise.
Every time you get in the car, you must hear the radio say phone is connected, then press the OK button to use the radio. Very annoying.
If you search online, you will now find many complaints about road noise in the new CRV. This is inexcusable from a vehicle that costs what this one does, and Honda should be ashamed.
The vehicle looks nice and the fit and finish is good. Mileage is ok, but not exceptional and below the sticker ratings.
The CRV EX-L Nav is underpowered, and quite anemic feeling. The 4 cyl does not have the smooth solid acceleration that our 04 Accord did. The CRV has to downshift to climb even the lowest hill or highway crossovers, even those over small roads.
We find that the Cruise control hunts up and down all the time, fluctuating more than 5-7 mph.
The rear brake rotor was machined poorly at the factory and had raised grooves on it when it arrived at the dealers lot.
There have been recalls on this vehicle. One for sure, and I believe 2.
Honda redesigned the fuel cap holder on the gas door, and it is hard to get the cap to stay in the holder. It is a poor design to say the least.
There is no hatch release on the remote, the rear hatch will not open if the vehicle is not in part, and the doors will not lock if any one of them is open.
The CRV has a large windshield and the wipers do a less than stellar job of cleaning it.
These problems are not what I expect out of a 30k Honda.
My dealer has not been very responsive and I don't think I will buy Honda again....read morehide

- Handling and decreased road noise. Fuel economy is good.
- Driverside mirror with the added element could have been left off.
Purchased As New
Overall ride is excellent, fuel economy could be better but is more than adequate for the size vehicle. Electronics are good but the steps through their use are a bit quirky. The new rear view camera is excellent compared to previous cameras, including the distance elements. Reliability will probably live up to usual Honda standards as with previous models....read morehide

- comfortable for large drivers yet not too big overall
- poor gas mileage; lacks power; sometimes quirky electronics
Purchased As New
This 2011 was my second CR-V--and was purchased because I really loved my 1999 CR-V--unfortunately this newer model has not turned out to be as enjoyable as the older one. Gas mileage is really pretty poor especially around town and long freeway trips just get it up to the mid 20's; the car is always downshifting at the least little hill and feels very underpowered and you practically need to floor it to make a pass in decent time; will say that the car is about the most comfortable small suv for a large person (me); have had some minor issues with the new electronics on this model (navigation and phone mainly) and I miss the two part rear hatch (window opening separately from the hatch--makes it tough unloading our dogs); will see if the 2013 model is any better with some of these problems but I still hope to be a Honda owner when all is said and done...read morehide
