- Great fuel economy. I've been getting over 31mpg on winter gas in Michigan with a heavy foot.
- The short wheel base and firm suspension may be too harsh for some folks.
After reading all the positive reviews of the Fit, I went to the dealer with what had to be an unreasonable set of expectations. This little beast still managed to exceed all of them and even had a couple more pleasant surprises. (I was so impressed that I traded in my old vehicle that day while it still had a full tank of gas in it.)
The first surprise was performance. I didn't expect much from 109 horsepower, but the vtech engine design seems to give you all of it over the entire rpm range. It can get to 60 mph in a hurry.
The second surprise was its roadworthiness at speed. I have had it up to 85 mph while passing an eighteen wheeler and it not only got there easily, it felt like it was glued to the road. I also tested the ABS brakes on a sheet of ice and was very impressed with how quick and straight it came to a stop.
Finally, the manual shifter linkage is the best I've ever encountered and I have driven quite a few. It is very precise with short throws and great feel....read morehide

I only have about 1,000 miles on my Fit but am getting 32-33 in the city and 35-36 on the open road. I have a long commute and the savings in gas are going to pay for the increase in the insurance over my old clunker. I'm a big guy (6'4" 235 lbs) and this tiny car has an amazing amount of interior space. My fit...fits....read morehide
