- Fuel economy, cargo hauling, people room (even in the back seats!)
- Hard "sporty" suspension, road noise, sensitive brakes
Purchased As Used
When we test drove cars, my wife and I both fell in love with the Fit. We ended up buying a 2008 Fit Sport with a manual transmission. Well, it has been a couple years and 25,000 miles since then. I still like the car, but I no longer love it. The hard suspension and the road noise makes driving around a chore (we live in the desert, so "driving around" tends to mean a minimum two hour round trip). The clucth took a long time to get used to, but the brakes, they are insanely sensitive and I often still brake too hard.
On the good side, we average 40MPG and have often gotten as much as 45MPG (I mentioned we live in the desert and have LONG commutes, didn't I?), and the versatile cargo compartment means trips to town are always worthwhile. We have hauled a treadmill. We have hauled a washing machine. And gardening tools. And usually along with all the previously mentioned items, our dog, too. Our dog prefers our Subaru because she can stick her head out the window without stretching :-) Oh, yeah, when we were carpooling, we could haul 3 passengers comfortably -- I can attest that the Fit has more rear seat room than a Chevy Cobalt.
