- Engine is over strocked

The engine over strocked to the bore about 3/4 ". This usually puts great stress on wrist pins, connecting rod bearings and crank shaft bearings. This can wear down the lower end a lot. Has Honda done anything to beef up the lower end, as is done with diesels? I drive a car that is over bored (Subaru) which can last a life time. What happened to the square bored engines? They seem ideal....read morehide

I have driven this car over 16,000 miles, and am very satisfied with it, so far. I have found city driving to be about 28 mpg. But it's on the freeway, that the fit really shines. On one 45 mile stretch of not entirely flat freeway, no A/C, cruise set at 55mph, I averaged 49.6 MPG. That same stretch of road at 65-70 mph, with A/C will net about 40 mpg. I love the perfectly flat surface of the fold down rear seats. And I have had trouble free driving, so I am a happy camper. Mileage wise, its only equal is a hy-brid, for about $10,000 more. I am looking forward to the day that Honda introduces the Fit hybrid to the U.S., as its MPG is off the charts....read morehide

It is impossible to see the front of the car because of the raked front window. While driving, it seems as though the car ends at the front window. This makes parking at the mall very difficult. Parking must be done with mirrors anyhow but there isnt one for the front. I wasnt prepared for this weird aspect....read morehide

- Pros
- Fuel economy
- Cons
- Acceleration onto freeways is poor
Purchased As New
Good value - very low price for new car where dealers have very limited supply. Seats could be a bit larger for 6 footer. MPG is great for a non-electric engine. Handling is good. I wish they had a turbo for fast acceleration when I enter a freeway.

I never thought I would be writing this review about a Honda FIT.... I'm a bit of a car-guy...Among my past cars were Mercedes, Saab, Acura, Volvo and now a.....Fit...???? Seriously....??? But a hip injury made my Acura TSX painful to drive and get in and out of....so, my search began....I test drove MANY SUV's, high-end sedans, Jeep Grand Cherokee, etc and while I was waiting to drive a Honda Pilot I noticed a Fit in the showroom. Almost as a joke, I opened the door and sat down and my first impression was how easy it was to get into the car. I'm 50 and 6 ft. 1 in. and in good shape, but as I sat behind the wheel it was immediately easy to find a comfortable driving position. And this was a $15,500 car...???? I canceled the Pilot test-drive and took the Fit out instead....
My Test-drive in the Fit only reinforced the comfort I felt in the showroom. It was quiet, steering was very responsive and the 5 speed was very, very good...driving ergonomics were perfect and visibility/sight lines were excellent. No rattles or squeaks. Several miles on some twisty town roads and 15 minutes on the highway and I was sold....!!! And I NEVER thought I would enjoy driving this car....
I've now been driving my Fit for a couple of months and have close to 3000 miles on the odometer and I am more pleased as time goes by. Now, the very cool thing is that as much as I enjoy driving the Fit, I'm enjoying the MPG's even more....so far I'm averaging OVER 40 MPG's consistently. This is about 65/35 town/highway driving...!!! Yes, I use cruise control when I can, I coast a little up to red lights, and my starts are mostly relaxed but I'm not doing anything extraordinary to get those MPG's....Comfortable, very low operating cost, very safe, wonderful storage, all in one BIG, small car....and all for LESS than $16,000....!!!! What's not to like....????...read morehide8 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

- Lousy heating/ventilation system 0 out of 10
Purchased As New
Perfect in almost every way...falling down on that brutal heating/ventilation system, A constant cold draft enters the cabin at your feet whilst the Climate control is at 28 celsius...even when you shut down all heating, cooling etc you still get a cold draft at your feet. Honda are clueless about this and cannot offer a solution to this problem. Shame for such a brilliant 'little' car....read morehide

- a little bit bigger than I prefer

I don't know anything about cars. Before I bought my Fit, I drove a 2005 VW convertible beetle. Obviously, I'm a small car person. I am so impressed with the Fit. It handles so well and rides so smoothly. I have always struggled with parallel parking--no more. This thing handles like a dream. And it is much larger inside than it appears outside. My husband whose 6'2" has plenty of head room, another bonus. I got the sports edition and I think its a lot cuter than many other similar vehicles on the road. And did I mention gas mileage? It's unbelievable! I love this car....read morehide
