Pros Exceptional Quality

We have had this van for a full year, and have just under 10k miles on it. Average fuel economy overall is 21.8..almost all city driving. This van has been perfect. NO maintenance issues, or any issues at all. Flawless build quality, flawless performance, and absolutely no reason to complain. I purchased this for about 28k, put a couple of grand down, and already can trade it for what I owe. How often can you start to gain equity after just over a year??? Yes. You can buy a sh!t Chrysler for 2-3K cheaper, but you lose 5k in trade in value after 5 years. Go with the better vehicle....MoreHide
Pros minivan sliding doors, interior comfort & conveniences, truffle color cloth interior, brake feel
Cons drives heavier than it is, exterior styling, steering feel un-honda like
Purchased as New
big vehicle that can carry 8 people and their stuff. Very comfortable, plenty of storage. Thought it would drive more honda like but the steering lacks proper feel and the vehicle drives heavier than it already is. built solid however one defect upon taking delivery. A jingle sound from the right rear suspension area anytime you hit a bump. 21mpg seems to be the norm with 50% highway 50% suburbs. Will consider a smaller 7 passenger vehicle that gets much better gas mileage next time if that exists....MoreHide
Pros Features, comfort, visibility, handling
Cons Acceleration is slightly sluggish in Drive, but the D3 gear cures that!

This is my first minivan, something I knew I needed for the things that I do. There aren't too many true minivans left among the various manufacturers, so narrowing down my choices to the Honda and Toyota (Sienna) didn't take long. Both had very comparable basic features in terms of cargo and seating, comfort, driveability, etc. In part, the standard extras in the Odyssey's base model that won me over: bluetooth, rear camera (which is really handy,) USB jack (also really handy,) and electric driver's seat. The mileage is also rated higher than the Sienna, and the seats are much easier to fold-down, and remove (as required,) and the stereo is much better as well.
While the Odyssey was priced about $2100 more than the Sienna, I was waiting to see if my negotiated price would retain most of that difference, and I still might have considered the Toyota just to save some money. Unfortunately for Toyota, they really weren't doing any deals, and my final prices were very comparable. Buying the Odyssey made complete sense, so I did!
I've had the car only a week, certainly too soon to talk about reliability or the kind of mileage I'm getting, but I will say that it's a pleasure to drive. I have yet to find a complaint about anything, and there are no issues whatsoever that need addressing. This was a smart purchase.
I'd like to give kudos to the dealer I eventually bought the car from, Auto Nation Honda of Costa Mesa (in Orange County next to Los Angeles.) I'd been emailing back and forth with them, and actually got my best price after the Labor Day sale. They were friendly, no pressure, no change-ups once I got to the delareship, even Ernie the finance guy was a sweetheart! Everything went quick, and smooth, very painless. I know, that's NOT the typical car dealer experience!...MoreHide
