2005 Honda Odyssey User Reviews
EX 5-Spd AT w/ Leather shown
- $6,889 - $11,076
- Excellent Handling and Preformance. Quality shows throughout.
- Dash appearance could be improved, (too much metal)
The Odyssey pricing in concise and easy to understand. You also can add options after purchase. When compared to other manufactures who offer rebates and incentives, unwanted options, Adminstration and Dealer Prep Fees, plus sales gimmicks, Honda stands alone with straight forward pricing. With Honda, you get what you pay for, the others manufactures leave you with the feeling of " Did I get a good deal? Did I get the options I needed?" After the smoke cleared, we saw the light and purchased the Odyssey....read morehide

- It's a Honda, HP, Mileage, Computer Screen, Safety, fast learning curve, techno. is st. of the art.
- Side rear doors only open when vehicle is in park. Would prefer higher, wider, longer.
With six children (8 to 16 yrs. old) this vehicle is a home run. Unfortunately, the top of the line package does not have the eight passenger seat option that other trim packages offer. The vehicle is about $4000 over-piced to be an excellent value but, hey, I bought it. I paid full MSRP plus delivery charges and 6% NJ state taxes plus extra for winter mats and three extra sets of head phones. This is absolutely the most expensive direct from the dealer Honda out there by a mile. Here in NJ no dealers were yielding any discounts whatsoever. Checked with three. Ordered from the closest dealership and had to wait four months. Black on black looks better than expected. DVD screen is too small but allows 100% visibility through rear view mirror when the DVD is on. I prefer buying all extras from the factory eventhough larger screens are available at after-market shops. Warranty voiding modifications always scare me so I avoid the risk. Safety is critically important and this vehicle provides the security my family seeks. XM stereo is great. It should be one year free trial rather than three months. Overall very satisfied....read morehide

- fuel economy, Honda quality and good resale value
- Looks lot like Kia Sedona, All Wheel Drive not available, brakes not good as Toyota Sienna
MSRP not good as Toyota Sienna--- with same price one could get AWD in Sienna. There are way too many cup holders! These spaces could have been used for better things. Egronomics not good as Toyota Sienna. Seats not good as U.S. brands. Cheap tires!

- Good Leather Seats , Storage Area
- No Power Seat For the 2'nd Row , Hard to get in the 3'rd Row
Everything seems to be perfect.
I bought 2 hondas within 3 months.
I'm only worried about the power doors
and tailgate when it's not operating anymore.
The honda has smooth rides.
The odyssey is very easy to operate.

- Honda ever build up like this !
This is the greater luxurious van I have ever seen. I have own one and our family very satisfied with this car. It has so many upgrades we have ever think of, like back camera, voice activation, (hand free functions), just say 'Play DVD' it will start playing DVD, or you want to control the AC, Fan, Heat, just say the command, it will control the climate based on your commands, it's cool !
Also you can set the reminder for your love one, like 'Happy birth Day to you' in the calendar, and when she / he will start the car, the voice will greeting the 'Happy birth day to you'.
I have set the 'Happy New Year 2005' for my wife, and when she start the car on Dec.31 after midnight, the car was greeting her 'Happy New Year 2005', she was surprised.
I am highly recommend to you buy this for your family and kids, they would be pleased to ride this car....read morehide

- SEAT ARE VERY COMFORTABLE AND ROOMY, THE MOON ROOF IS A BIG PLUS AS WELL AS ALL THE STANDARD EXTRAS.
- I'M APPROACHING 3K MILES WITH TWO 1K MILES TRIPS AND CAN'T FIND ANY CONS! GAS MI. IS 22MPG SO FAR
THIS IS MY 7TH HONDA AND ITS THE BEST YET, IT HAS PLEANTY OF POWER (GET UP AND GO) AND HANDLES ON THE ROAD BETTER THAN ANY VEHILCE I'VE OWNED. I'M VERY HAPPY I TOOK THE EXTRA STEP AND GOT THE TOURING. I WOULD ALSO ADVISE A NEW BUYER TO INCLUDE THE 7 YR. EXTENDED WARRANTEE DUE TO THE VAST ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE WHICH IS ZERO $ OUT OF POCKET FOR 7 YRS. OR 100K MILES. I FOUND MY DEALER AND SALES PERSON TO BE 100% WITH ME THROUGH EACH STEP OF THE PROCESS AND I NEVER FELT AS IF I WAS PRESSURED IN ANY WAY WHICH, IS TRULY A NICE EXPERIENCE AND THE SERVICE AND THEIR RESPONSIVENESS POST PURCHASE HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL. I HOPE THAT AFTER THE BREAKIN PERIOD, THE FUEL MILEAGE ON LONG TRIPS WILL GET UP TO 28MPG, PRESENTLY, WITH A MIX OF DRIVING I'M GETTING 22MPG. ALSO, THE HANDLING AROUND CORNERS WITH THEIR INDEPENDENT WHEEL SYSTEM REALY MAKES A DIFFERENCE CALLED VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA). VISABILITY IS ANOTHER PLUS, I CAN'T FIND A BLIND SPOT.
THANK YOU HONDA!...read morehide

- smooth ride
- Too loud, no change holder, sliding doors very hard to open, illuminated dash-problem at night
I just traded my 2001 Odyssey for the 2005. I never noticed noise in the 2001. The 2005, while very smooth, is very very loud. I find the road noise overbearing and the van sounds like a truck when you accelerate. Even my kids noticed it. I drive a lot and I am just so happy for the quiet when I finally get out of the van. Not good. Also, while the very illuminated dash is nice during the day, I have found that I forget to turn the outside lights on as it gets dark. You don't realize your lights aren't on because the dash is always so bright.
One last thing, they eliminated the change holder that used to be in front of the pull out cup holders. Now, there is no place to keep change for those tolls. I end up keeping it in the nook on the door. Also, not a good move by Honda engineers. The little inconveniences make a difference.
The handles on the automatic sliding doors are very tight and my very strong 8 years old son has a hard time opening them. I have to yank pretty hard to get it open. Wasn't like that on the 2001....read morehide
