2006 Honda Odyssey User Reviews
Touring with DVD shown
- $8,247 - $13,490
- smooth engine
- tons of mechanical problems, inside rattles, tons of wheel jiggle
I bought this van 13 months ago. Since then, it's been in the shop 7 times. 7 times!! I had a rattle in the door fixed (channel runner), the brake rotors already have been machined b/c of steering wheel shake when braking, and the last straw was a wheel balance problem that couldn't be fixed even with new tires. After a few months, I was actually afraid to drive for fear that I'd keep finding new problems. I have since traded it for a Sienna, and that's the best decision I';ve made with the Odyssey....read morehide

- Smooth, fairly quiet, excellent long trip vehicle, power, decent brakes
- so so mileage, short roof rails, little clearance for snow chain
Of all the vehicles I've owned in the last 25 years, this one allows me to reach my destination with the least fatigue. That may not sound like much, but a drive from Long Beach to San Jose feels quite short. A drive from the Bay Area to the Sierra foothill feels like a sunday drive.
It is quiet, powerful, and has strong brakes. The vehicle stability control works seemlessly. I doubt most people would even notice the whirling sound when the system kicks in.
The folding seats function well, but still below Chrysler's Stow and Go in ease of use.
Never never buy a run-flat wheel and tire system. I knew this coming in as I have a C5 Corvette. I spent $2000 to replace the tires, and what I get is a harsh ride and poor handling (even for a Corvette). To make it worse, Honda uses Michelin's PAX system, which is even more complicated than the Good Year system on my Chevy. At least with mine, the tires can be repaired anywhere using the same method as normal tires. I don't know of any tire shop that can handle PAX at this time....read morehide

- nice ride quieter than the 03 much nicer than 03
- side window antenna not the greatest
Dealer ask me if I wanted DRL turned on
WHY WOULD ANYONE want DRL Remember you have no taillights when DRl are on They help me see you coming from behind me or on 2 lane rd I can see you coming at me.
BUT after you pass me on 4 lane in a FOG,SNOW, OR ANY OTHER RD CONDITION YOU ARE GONE
WORST THING CANADA AND THEN THE US AUTO MAKERS COULD HAVE EVER DONE. TURN ON THE TAIL LIGHTS IF DRL ARE ON
JUST TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON ANDLEAVE THEM ON LOW BEAM
TURN THE KEY OFF THEY GO OFF
HOW HARD IS THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!...read morehide

- Doesnt feel like a minivan. Feels like a luxury sports sedan. Fantastic "car".
- NO DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS!!!!!! Come on... Should all cars have daylight running lights.
I am so glad I finally had kids which made me buy a Honda Odyssey. Fantastic purchase. Holds value well which is why we eneded up buying new since the 1-2 year models were almost as expensive.

- good comfortable ride
- Absolutely very poor audio system. I expected better for a $30,000.00 vehicle.
I am a long time Honda owner. We have owned 10 Hondas. I have been completely satisfied with Honda until we purchased this 2005 Honda Odyssey. 2005 was the first year that Honda removed the exterior antenna and put the radio antenna in the right side rear window glass. This has caused two problems: First the radio reception is near non-existing and Secondly, the back glass does not open like all the other Mini Vans.
Trying to deal with American Honda's Customers Service department was a night mare. They have a bad design (audio system) and will do nothing to correct this problem or make any restitution for their bad design.
I have been taken by Honda once but never again. I do not want to go through trying to deal with Honda Customer Service when I have a legitimate complaint. Honda's reputation, for customer service is going down a step at a time and soon they will wonder why they can not sell cars.
I will not buy another Honda for this reason. Poor Customer Service....read morehide

- nice driving characteristics, comfortable interior, plenty storage space
- my overall gas mileage (about 18.5 mpg) is less than MSRP sticker, wind noise from sliding doors
Since late August 2006, I have had a recurring major problem with my Odyssey: the battery keeps going dead on me about once every 1 to 2 weeks!! After summer vacation, I drive a short distance to work each day, mostly on local roads to work, and then home as well as other misc. trips to the store, etc. The condition has worsened since autumn. After 6 repeated/failed repair attempts and three replaced batteries, I have filed under Lemon Law. I am wondering if all the electronics on board (i.e. the navigation system, 6 disc cd system, dvd system, security system, etc.) draw more electricity than the alternator was designed to handle??? Another problem I experienced with the car after the dealer replaced the battery: my dvd malfunctioned twice, requiring replacement in one instance. VERY, VERY, FRUSTRATING AND UPSETTING FOR ME AND MY FAMILY! My new car has become unreliable for me and my family!! Finally, I am glad I didn't get the Touring Edition with those very expensive run-flat tires!!...read morehide

- happy with fuel economy, performance, features, the way it is built
- Windshield wiper turns on when I spray some fluid and splash guard at the back is optional.
All the things that they are saying about the 2007 Odyssey are not all true. It's our 1st family vehicle. Have tested the 07 Nissan Quest and 06 Sienna but the Odyssey's the best.

- Great van except for one thing....PAX Tire System! Design flaw!!!! DO NOT BUY TOURING!
- Pax tire system can not be changed. You are stuck buying a tire from 250.00 to 300.00 per tire
Today I found out that if you get a nail in your tire, you can not go to any tire repair place to fix your tire. Your only choice is to go to a Honda Dealer that has the equiptment to handle PAX tires. NOT all dealers have this equiptment. I was told by one dealer that it cost 15,000.00 to buy. This car does not come with a spare and when I spoke to Honda, they do not allow you to change rims and wheels to regular type tires. In most cases I was told the tire could not be repaired and that a new tire would be neeeded. Most tires could get a plug or patch, but not the PAX Tires. THIS IS A MAJOR RIP OFF!!!!! I would like to get more owners together to file a class action lawsuit because of this feature. I was not told by the selling dealer what this system means. I do not recomend anyone buy a car with PAX tires. Also when it comes time to replace the tires, it will cost over 1000.00 to replace them. Otherwise, it's a great car, but this one feature would make me suggest to anyone that they buy anything but a Touring model....read morehide

- heated seats, decent power, roomy
- power sliding door problems
I've had it at the dealer 5 times now (only 9K miles) because the DS power sliding door intermittently won't fully close and sometimes when it does, the door alarm (not the light for door ajar) stays on. It's particularly annoying because this alarm only comes on when the car is in gear, so I never know until the engine is started and the car is in gear, if the alarm will sound. I'm running out of patience. Otherwise, no significant issues....read morehide
