2006 Honda Odyssey User Reviews
- $8,247 - $13,490
- Great horse power at good fuel econmy, fancy interior, so spacy, love the lazy susan storage idea.
- Too little choice for interior leather color.
Just love this car so much, I have a Beemer, but I drive this Odyssey now more than my Beemer. Compared with other minivan such as Sienna, this car beats Sienna in too many aspects. Such as the meter can go 160mi, compare with Sienna's only 110mi. Acceleration is great. I like the solar eclipse purple light around the meter, awsome looking at night! The rear camera backing up is a great safety feature. Lazy susan storage idea is innovative. Can't describe how fancy the interior looks, makes me feel wanting to live inside this roomy car. Sienna's interior looks so cheazy compare to this one. I can get this DVD/NAV EXL for $35K, Sienna came with too many options to get the NAV, and total over $40K. If I have $40K+, I'll move up to Acura or BMW SUV. Although I cannot choose interior color, but the gray leather in combination to my Slate Green exterior color looks great. I believe with all these, makes resell value for this car better. This car sold too well, I have to goto so many dealers, and finally found a dealer that has one available without waiting....read morehide

- average noisy brakes, cheap bumper covers and paint.
Excellent navigation system w/large database.RES keeps kids quit.XM radio a plus.Sliding doors are hard to slide manualy.loose windows when slightly open.Excellent technical and mechanical.Very cheap paint on bumper covers, can be easily damaged with less than 1 mph and can easily fall off the car in minor accidents, reason is pedestrian safety, but mucho dinero for owners $800.00 per bumper. You will be glad you got the NAVI and RES.Smooth, solid and quit,Has the feel of a Mercedes.Lots of hard plastic panels.excellent rear view camera especially at night.Recommand it?Ohhh yes....read morehide

- Build Quality, Acceleration, Reliability
- PAX run-flat tires can be a hassle to repair and replace
This is our first minvan, I looked at the 06 Sienna and the 06 Odyssey. I heard that the run-flats on the Sienna were horrible so bought the Odyssey. But run-flats on the Odyssey is also horrible. Both vans have bad runflats and are expensive to keep in condition. Otherwise both vans will be great choices. My Odyssey has a 360 watt sound system and voice activated navigation system. I would recommend this car to anyone who needs a van. It is very comfortable and has a lot of room....read morehide

- VCM, GPS, RES, Split Rear Seat, Seats EIGHT, Voice Commands, Sun Shades, Sun Roof
- No Seat Settings Memory, DVD loads in front, no rear control volume for RES
As you can see many more pro's than con's. I traded in a 2001 Odyssey EX and bought my 2006 without a test drive. Didn't need one. Loved my 2001 and had every confidence the 2006 would be great. All I can say is WOW! It's like going from a Flinstone's van to a Jetson's van. No joke. Voice commands are great for controlling DVD, CD, Temperature, Navigation. I only wish there was a voice command to deliver a small electric shock to my kids to keep them in line (Honda, please consider it in the 2007 model). The GPS Navigation is just amazing, in literally 30 seconds it can calculate an alternate route out of a traffic jam! And with loud kids it's great to have a calm voice tell you where to turn and when. The RES sports a 9-inch screen that doesn't block your view looking rearward when driving. The remote control serves as the front panel of the dvd unit display and pops out so that rear passengers can control from any seat. The RES could be greatly improved with a rear control for volume. The kids ask me to adjust the volume from the front and it would make more sense for them to be able to control it, I can give them control of every other feature of the DVD player from the rear! They also should be able to load it from the rear, I'd like to have the option for them to COMPLETELY control the DVD. Been using the VCM and it ROCKS! Seamless, can't tell when the 3 pistons shut off, but gives this minivan the best mileage of any minivan on the market. Van seats EIGHT which is really cool. The eighth seat can be removed or folded down to serve as a tray table for the second row. Lots of storage in this van. They moved the spare tire which was stored under the car in front of the second row in the 2001 model, to a bay in the side of the trunk, and used the space created for a lazy susan storage area. So needed for kids gameboys and snacks, love it. The split rear fold away seats create many more options for hauling. And here's a revelation, you can fold the seats completely away with the head rests on! Couldn't do that with the 2001. Cup holders galore including for second row, it was a real problem in the 2001. The sliding doors have automatic windows that go up and down, they also have a built in retractable sun shade, really great. Leather interior is very nice and comfy. The climate control is great too, allows the front passenger their own zone to control. Haven't used the heated seats yet, haven't used the rear view mirrors defrost mechanism yet. Putting the car into reverse gave me a shock because the NAV screen changes to a camera view out the back of the van as you back up! Very cool. The side sliding doors appear to be more sturdy and stable than 2001 and can be stopped and reversed mid-slide. I know that the Touring model comes with memory settings for the seats and mirrors, wish it came on the EX-L. Overall terrific van and a great step up for us! Oh and consider using COSTCO to buy the car, the costco price for this van was $2,000 off the MSRP. Gotta love COSTCO!...read morehide

- Lots of power when needed, 5 stars, nice design, comfort, gas saver, dual climate cntrl in front
- pass seat not pwrd, 3rd row shades not standard, no day running headlights, A/C vulnarable to rocks
Recently traded in an 04' EX-L RES for the 06' EX-L RES. No regrets, no comparison. Smoother, safer, 21 to 22 mpg instead of 16 to 17 city and 27 mpg instead of 22 highway. No more fighting with the wife about the temp setting being too hot or cold infront (ability to set different temp settings for driver and passenger) a much appreciated option, thank you Honda! Larger DVD LCD screen (9" instead of 7") wireless headsets turn off instantly when taken off (the 04' headsets stayed on for at least 5 to 7 minutes until shutting off automatically after not receiving a signal from the DVD unit) the kids always left them on and I bought a new set of batteries for each head set at least once a week. SPLIT and RECLINING 3rd row seats that are hidden away MUCH easier than the 04'. No more untena swaying in the wind at 70 mph on long highway trips. and I didn't have to make a hole in the van cover for an antena like I did for the 04' the antena in the 06' is in the right rear side window. Slider door windows roll down (no more cracking open sliding doors to allow air to flow in while parked) a BIG PLUS! It doesn't feel compact inside like the 04' model did and the seats seem to be so much more comfortable. If your happy with your 04' or later model than cheat your self, OOOP'S did I say that? I meant suit yourself, to each his own right? Ha! Ha!...read morehide

- Great feature-set
- Features missing that would make it a even greater van
2006 Honda Odyssey Touring DVD/Nav (fully loaded): Comments written on 9/20/05
Great Minivan that this is, for a top of the line fully loaded minivan it has a few missing features. Honda should have thought of this for its customers since they are paying $40000 or more for this van.
List of Weaknesses:
1. Headphone sockets (for RES) only exist on the left side in the 3rd row. They should exist on both L and R sides for user convenience.
2. Electrochromatic Rearview mirror is great, but all mirrors should have been Electrochromatic.
3. Front Passenger seat adjustments should be powered and not manual
4. Daytime running lights must be standard for this model. (Fog lights are a good addition though.)
5. Third row windows should also have manual or powered sun screen. (Just as 2nd row windows have manual sun screens.)
6. The 2 memory settings are for Driver seat position only currently. These memory settings should also cover mirror and pedal settings (in addition to seat settings).
7. And finally why be so cheap that Honda cannot offer a leather bound zipper case for safeguarding the key manuals and extra keys when you buy this expensive van....read morehide

- excellant ride
A wonderful car to drive, but the only draw back is it doesn't come in 4 wheel drive especially during the long winters we get here in New England.
This is what I want but in 4 wheel drive
