2005 Honda Pilot
There are 19 user reviews for the EX 5-Spd AT w/ Leather and Nav System trim shown below
- Smooth shifting, solid doors, better than average turning radius, tons of room.
- Seats could be more comfortable. Interior trim and leather not the best quality.
The vehicle is solid and the doors sound like a vault when you close them. The interior is extremely roomy and the vehicle is smooth and enjoyable to drive. Nav system is very user friendly and fun. The engine is wonderful (Vortec V6), but gets VERY 'thirsty' when pushed hard.
The sound system and interior trim is 'ho-hum' and leaves a lot to be desired. The seat comfort could be improved upon considerably. You don't sit in the front seats...you sit on them. The LCD readouts on the clock and radio are extremely difficult to read, especially during daylight operation, but the controls are well thought out and easy to access. The ride is wonderful, but deceiving. You expect the choppy ride most SUV's provide, but this vehicle is smooth and very sure footed.
The vehicle needs a sun roof option and genuine bucket (supporting) seats. A lot of welcomed additional room in the center console without the un-needed center mounted 'sport shifter'.
I hope somebody reads this from the factory, because I'd love to buy another Pilot with the aforementioned corrections. I really like the vehicle a lot, but it could be so much better without escalating the cost to much in the process....read morehide

- 0-60 in 7.9 secs, Faster than Toyota Highlander's 8.1, Nice Leather, 25 more hp than Highlander
- Ride is a little bumpy, road noise for passengers, no premium sound system option
This is a great SUV. It was a great choice when i had to choose from Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. I choose it because it had more room than the Highlander. But for an SUV, it is not as capable off-road has the Toyota 4Runner but is cheaper. I questioned what happened one day when car didn't start after 2 weeks of use. So i brought it to the Honda dealer and it turned on (guess the gears got dull from all its use)!! I towed my Pilot for nothing and paid for the towing... that was fun. This is a reliable SUV and is a great choice. I hope someday, Honda would put in a Hybrid like the 06-models from Toyota. I may have to trade this car if gas prices is this high (over $2 and near $2.5) It is very expensive to get a full tank. :)...read morehide

- Excellent build quality, good performance from a heavy SUV. Lots of standard features on LX model.
- 100 percent better than the Chevy Astro van I had which fell apart at 85,000 miles. See ya GM
First foreign car I bought after replacing a 2000 Astro van. (Fell apart at 85,000 miles) Build quality is excellent, roomy, quiet and has quite a bit of power. Lots of cargo room with 3rd row seat folded down. Lots of bells and whistles standard with EX model. Buy the EX - leather. It comes with everything standard and you won't be disappointed. Navigation system is easy to use and well thought out....read morehide

- Comfortable, AWESOME sound system, great handling
- No sunroof indicator light
My family and I considered many other cars, but after intense research, we came right back to Honda after by a CR-V only a few years earlier.
The exterior looks are 'bold, and built to please to tough crowd', according to the Pilot Brochure. I thought it looked kind of bland. Maybe it's just me.
My Pilot is supposed to be Sage Green, but it's not like any green I've seen before... looks pitch black
The interior is pretty stylish. The Nav system has perfect placing, and a nice, big screen. Very driver oriented, with audio controls right on the wheel.
The drive is very smooth. You can't hear a thing on the inside, even when the RPM's are pretty high. The Vehicle Stability Assist is a god send, and helps insanely when driving in the snow. Quick acceleration, rapid braking, and smooth manuvering are a definate help in the snow too.
The Nav. System is a bit hard to understand at first, but after a week or two, you'll get the hang of it. It can store upto 50 personal addresses, which is ample if you are not going to be going out of town a lot, and know where your friends live.
The audio system is crazy (in a very good way). The quality is great, and it can thump out some massive bass. The great part is, no matter how loud you put it, you can't hear a thing from the outside! The layout of it is a bit weird. On the lower left nob, you can control the settings (bass, treble, etc.). On the upper center nob, you have your volume and power. On yet another nob is the tuning for the radio. Why couldn't they have just combined it into two nobs?
-The audio system is a bit wierd
-After about a month of owing it, I still can't figure out how to use the 6 CD changer
-No 'Sunroof closed' indicator Light
Great value for the money. Nice ride and comfort, while not too hard on the bank. Got mine '05 Pilot in the third week on January of 2005 for about $31,000... not too shabby...read morehide

- great hwy gas mileage..could do better in the city. LOVE the Navigation!more room inside than appear
- tight space for fuel latch opening, even w/small hands. only driver's side has power seats..
I bought my Pilot in Dec.'04 and absolutely love it.Sure there is always room for improvement, but for OVERALL price in this size SUV, it's a terrific deal. It's a solid mid size SUV, with great pickup when needed both hwy and street; 0-60 mph!in secs! roomy for 6 adults; even if you're 6'5", plenty of leg room all around, including 3rd row..which should be mainly for smaller adults. installing chrome rims really adds class/style....read morehide

- Road behavior, room, engineering, quality of material, and assembly
- Gas Mileage is very low, even considering it is an SUV. 18 mpg on highway, 12 in city
This car has a huge amount of configurable space and I have had 8 people in it for short rides. The comfort is excellent with good seats and plenty of elbow, knee and legroom.
The engine is very powerful and the car moves right out
Its roadholding is exellent. Even trying with full power on right angle corner in rain, it simple will not lose traction
One of the major reasons I bought it was that it will tow 4500 Lbs, which is much better than other mid size SUVs. While Jeep Grand Cherokee will pull 6500 lbs, its not drive a well and is not as roomy as the Honda.
With variable valve timing, intelligent all wheel drive, with a 4 wheel drive option, electronic stability control and electric steering, Honda has put a lot of excellent engineering into this car
The Navigation system is very, very good, and reasonably easy to learn to use ( at least for my 16 year old, if not me.)
Not to be forgotten is is safety, with side and front airbags, and pretensioning seatbelts and eletronic stability control. Never a hint of this car going out of control....read morehide

- Quality, voice nav. system, comfortable seating, ample room.
- Lack of option package choices.
I researched and tested all of the following before settling on the Honda Pilot; Ford Escape, Freestar and Freestyle, Saturn Vue and Relay, Chevy Equinox, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, Toyota Sienna and Pathfinder, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Murano, Hyundai Sante Fe, Suzuki 2.7, and the Honda Odyssey.
After much consideration there was nothing else that offered the comfort and options that the Pilot offered.
I am a tall individual, 6'4", and many of the above mentioned vehicles do not accomodate some one of my stature. Most surprising along these lines was the Jeep. I could barely get into the Jeep and when I did my head stuck out of the sun roof. It was the same for the Pathfinder. Many of the others were also restrictive.
The Honda offered ample room. There was plenty of head room and I liked the position I was in when driving. I felt very much in control and felt that I was upright in the seat and sitting high up. Great visibility.
I wish there were more choices when it comes to the options, but I found this to be a trend among all brands. Guess they think they know more than I do when it comes to what I want. Oh well.
Do plenty of research before you buy and don't allow anyone to force you into something you will end up hating.
As far as price goes the Honda was lower than any comparable vehicle option for option....read morehide
