Purchased As New
I have loved this car since we bought it new in 2005. However, with no warning, a faulty part in the radiator/transmission system failed causing the fluids to mix and flow into the transmission. FYI coolant destroys transmission. Honda is aware of the problem as thousands seem to have this issue (just do a web search). It needs a recall!!! Honda's response is surprise that the radiator lasted as long as it did. Nowhere in the manual does it say radiator and the cooling piece for the transmission located in the radiator should be replaced as preventive maintenance. I would be leery of buying this vehicle used as you may be inheriting someone else's problems. Just to let you know that the defective part is in acura and nissan and other pilots from 2003-2005. We have driven Hondas for over 20 years (family has owned 17 Hondas) and are sorely disappointed by the catastrphic failure, which is only compounded by Honda's lack of culpability. We are now faced with unexpectedly having to spend thousands with no guarantee this will repair it in the long run, or shell out even more to purchase a new vehicle with little or no trade in value on the Pilot. Don't buy this car used and beware of Honda if you ever need them for anything.
