- Rides well, great fit & finish, safe, good electronics, top value.
- Fuel economy. Third seat legroom is tight.
I have driven a Honda Odyssey for over 6 years and have been pleased. I was thinking about another Odyssey, but decided that the AWD on the Pilot and slightly smaller size made it a better choice for me. I am thrilled with my choice. It is quieter and more comfortable that the 2003 Odyssey that I have been driving. The improved GPS is great, including the rear camera. The GPS screen is also integrated with the climate control system and a wonderful sound system, complete with XM radio (I will miss Howard Stern and my Sirius stations) and the whole thing operates on voice commands. Very functional and intuitive to operate.
Lots of thoughtful features throughout. Lots of well designed cup holders, hangers, hooks, bins, etc make it a great vehicle for those who live in their car. I drive over 20K a year and appreciate these touches. Seat comfort is good in the first 2 rows. The 3rd row is not really designed for 3 people... except kids. It is fine for 1 adult, 2 if they get along.
Safety is a big plus with the Pilot. It has airbags everywhere, a low tire pressure indicator, and the usual ABS, etc. These features, combined with the size and weight of the vehicle make it very safe unless you ask it to do more than anyone should ask of a mid-size SUV (no Grand Prix, please!).
This is really a big car, a cross over vehicle, rather than a full blown, truck built SUV. It will handles modest off road, but if you have visions of crossing 30 inch deep rivers, three foot snow drifts, and other "real" off-road fun, get a Hummer. That being said, since well over 90% of SUVs sold in the US never go off road at all, the Pilot is capable enough for almost all of us.
In short, the Pilot does everything that you ask it to do... and more. It is, in my opinion, the best balance of size, features, power, durability, and price in its class. It is easy to see why it gets best value ratings by almost all reviewers. If you want an AWD vehicle this size, and do not need a real truck-like animal, the Pilot is hard to beat.
