- great gas mileage on the highway
Purchased As Used
This is a great vehicle to buy if you can't afford a new Honda Pilot and a year 2006 or 2007 is still new and you can find some with low miles. Seats are very comfortable on long road trips and I just like everything about it and what really surprise me is that the gas mileage is as good as my Honda CRV that I own before but only on the highway. In town I get between 20 to 22 mpg. On the highway sometimes close to 31 mpg. The performance is great and handling and braking is very comfortable, I just like everything about my pilot and I recommend this vehicle to anyone that has a small family with two kids and need to pull a trailer under 3500 pounds....read morehide

- good size SUV
- LOUD HUMMING SOUND
We purchased our Pilot last May 2006 and on our first trip to Las Vegas, we heard this loud humming sound. Went to our dealer,
Metro Honda and told them about the problem and it took 4 visits
before they confirmed that the humming sound exist. Wrote Honda
a letter about the problem and they acknowledged that the humming
sound is a "normal condition" for 2WD models and todate, they have
not come up with a solution. I was trying to trade in this model for
a 4WD model but it was not cost effecive on my part as i will lose money as they have categorized my Pilot as second hand. I am very dissatisfied with how Honda has treated my case....read morehide

- Extremely loud noise like a lion roaring
I can't believe I believed Consumer Reports. We now have a brand new car that is defective. Everyone who rides in it with us hears this deafening noise which it has had since the first month. We have taken it in and they say there is no fix for this yet. My question is, "Why don't they recall or give me a vehicle that doesn't do this."We are very dissatisfied, everyone doesn't have this noise problem, but many do. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone....read morehide

- stylish, comfort, fuel economy, powerful
- headlights , open windows, road noise,
Vehicle has moaning and vibration noise , very anoying. Manufacture has no fix for the problem as of yet. With lights on at night, it is very hard to see unless you use high beams, dealer has no fix for it. With two or more windows down partially, the droaning sound is unberible!

- Displacement Management System, third row, quiet and ergonomic interior
- pricey options, no sunroof available on base models
With the price of gas going through the roof, it was time to trade in the old Ford Explorer for something that got better gas mileage and gave a more user friendly ride. After shopping around for small SUV's and crossovers, we walked into the Honda showroom and fell in love with the Pilot. Unlike many other SUV's and cars we had looked at, it seems Honda thought of everything when it came to creating the interior space. The wife loved the room it had for her and the bady's stuff when it came time their daily outings. I loved the fact that it had seating for 8, could hold a 4x8 sheet of plywood and the 2006 came with a system that shuts 3 cylinders off when cruising at speed to save fuel. We have had it for 3 months now and I can't complain about anything, yet. The gas mileage has been better than I expected, it averages around 25 mpg. It probably helps that we only opted for the front drive model and we dont beat on it. What started out as a great leasing deal, turned a bit pricey when we added the options, but I think we still got a great deal and it will keep us happy until its time to turn it in. We just wish the base model was available with a sunroof, we both really wanted one in the next car we got....read morehide

We bought the 2006 Pilot because the manual said it could be towed - we wanted to tow it behind our motor home. We turned in our CRV, which was set up as a tow vehicle and worked fine. We spent over $300 for a new tow set up, only to receive a new manual from Honda telling us that the 2006 Pilot can NOT be towed. What do we do now?...read morehide
