2007 Honda Pilot User Reviews
EX-L 4WD 5-Spd AT w/ Navigation System shown
- $10,642 - $16,586
- Reliability, Handling, Room, Ride, leather
- GPS routing poor, Styling, base tires
We've driven our 2005 Pilot on trips from Virginia to Florida, Canada and Indiana. It has been excellent. The handling and ride was a big improvement over the Mercedes ML we replaced it with him.
It has been rock solid and without any mechanical issues, something you couldn't say about the Mercedes.
I replaced the base tires with Michelin's excellent SUV tires, just as I did on the Mercedes. These tires help the handling and ride on any SUV. We'd buy another Pilot in a New York minute....read morehide

- Good value for it's price catgory
- Rear brakes make a noise on occasion
We purchased the 07 Pilot and are satisfied with the purchase. After reeading some of the reviews here it would seem the biggest disappointment would come from individuals who failed to do enough research before making the purchase. Wow! They spend 27K to 35K and do not really research all the options available to them. And we wonder why America has a fragile economy. Hmmmm.
As for the gas mileage, it is not the greatest. However if people would stay informed they would know the federal government claimed they were going to create a real world situation for all vehicles to be tested. This was because all manufactures were over rated on gas mileage.
The ride is a little rough but it is a Honda, and it is a mid-size SUV.
The interior room is great unless you actually wish to sit in the third seat. But, here again, it is a mid-size SUV. There is only so much room on that length of a wheelbase.
Overall, it has been a great vehicle with no mechanical issues and we would recommend you at least test drive one before deciding against it....read morehide

- Interior creature comforts are great, room for family and friends, decent power.
- Does have more noticeable road noise than I'd expect for a plus $30k vehicle
Overall, I am with a few others who don't quite get the large amount of completely negative reviews on the Pilot. Gas mileage isn't spectacular, but no worse that our minivan was and it is a larger size vehicle. Ours seems to be in ECONOMY mode quite a bit and yet there is plenty of available power when you need it. Compared to other SUVs out there I still say this is one of the best OVERALL values you will find. I am counting on Honda's quality reputation and so far I haven't had any of the mechanical issues some have complained about. It is comfortable to ride, versatile, and with the roof open actually fun to drive. I will say that all future new or gently used cars I get will have a navigation system in it. We use that all the time now..........very convenient. You really only notice the much maligned road noise when all is quiet in the cabin, etc. But most of the time it just isn't a big deal. Anyone looking for 100% perfection should be looking at a car in the $50k+ range. For what the Pilot claims to be/do, it does a fine job....read morehide

- beautiful interior especially the leather and the eight speaker sound system.
- rear bumper needs a little make up to make it more sportier.
i cant barter my '07 pilot to any existing SUV at its class. it has an awesome design and best interior. the eight speaker sound system creates an orchestra like feeling especially on a long trip. my kids love it, much more it has DVD system on it. plus no need to buy a satellite radio, as it is XM ready. the third row seat is quite comfortable for my kids. moreover, i have no complains with the gas mileage, folks needs to consider that it is powered by a V6 3.5L engine, so it right away answer my crave for speed. overall this pilot could match other overrated and expensive SUV in the automarket....read morehide

- lot of bang for the buck, lots of room, kids love the DVD
- seats could be more comfortable
I've had my Pilot since March 2007 and I love it! I was surprised to see some of the negative comments about it. I didn't buy it for a race car - so I didn't expect the performance of a Porsche. It's a great family car with plenty of room for car seats and all the stuff kids bring along. I had owned nothing but Nissans prior to buying the Pilot, but safety, affordability and roominess became my top 3 priorities and the Pilot had all of them. For weeks, I researched SUVs in my price range and this is the only one that had it all - and the DVD is the icing on the cake. For older kids, there is the hookup for video games/i-pods. The only thing this car doesn't come with is a chauffer to drive you around!...read morehide

- roomy, nice design
- need more power, poor mpg, where is the honda quality?
i had a very first honda pilot when it came out!
i have about 55000 miles on it and it's been really not a good experience at all! when ever we put the car in drive the car makes weird noice! it sounds like the drive train is falling apart! but, it's been holding on to the drive train! i hope it dosen't fall apart on me! also the inside door handle fancy chrome door handle's are falling apart!
middle seat broke so it's really hard to get into the third row seat!
everyone told me how good the honda is and it's good quality car! i don't think i can buy another honda again! i'll be better off with hyundai! don't listen to the magazine about honda quality!...read morehide

- Comfortable. Third row seating. Good interior finish.
- Somewhat rough ride. Fuel economy. Road noise.
I purchased my Pilot Ex-L 4WD in August 2007, and have driven more than 3,500 miles. (I've owned Hondas before, and my teenage boys are presently driving a Civic and an Acura RSX). The sticker on the window when I purchased the Pilot said 17 MPG City. However, after three tanks of gas, it was obvious that the actual gas mileage around town was 13-14. So, I installed a K&N air filter, switched to Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic Extended Performance motor oil (15,000 miles between oil changes), and a Mobile 1 oil filter. I'm now getting just over 15 MPG City and more than 20 MPG on the highway. This is still a far cry from what I expected, so I went to my Honda store and looked at the stickers on the 2008 Pilots. Wouldn't you know, the MPG's have been lowered to 15/20. I was quite upset, until a friend said that his 2006 Ford Ranger had a sticker with the MPG's being 18/22, and now the same truck for 2008 is stickered at 13 MPG City. It's obvious that all the auto manufacturers have inflated the gas mileage claims! Alas, my son's 2006 Honda Civic EX gets around 35 MPG overall (combination of city and highway driving)....read morehide

- I love my Pilot. Great comfortable ride, great engine, looks good.
- none serious enough to mention, gas mileage could be beter
After owning this car for 15 months now, I took a look a the reviews for this vehicle and I am supprised and a bit suspicious about them. I love this car. It is very comfortable with heated leather seats, I dont have much road noise, and it has great power. The Pilot can hold 8 people comfortably in leather seats, has 4wd, and gets decent fuel mileage, although I can see how people would like better gas mileage. But compaired to other mid to large SUV's it is better than average.
The I ahve not had any issues with my Honda. It worked well right off the showroom floor and no problems to this day. The internal components are well thought out and there is a lot of automation with the lights and air handling system.
I own a white Pilot with kind of a khaki interior with a blus green tint to the windows. Darkened in the rear.
It is a real pleasure to drive. Hope this helps...read morehide

- 8 seater, roomy, visibility
- doubt on MPG claim by Honda. Expect to pump lots of gas
Weird noises, clanking or thugging sound when backing up, turning. Drives heavy, same feel of driving a huge truck. If not for the 8-seater, I would had never bought this car. That's the only plus. Rest of features are below average (poor quality stereo, noisy rough ride, gas mileage, acceleration...)...read morehide
