I had Silver 06' EXL w/ Navi but after drving it around for only 10K miles, I knew that Honda is a Honda. I paid $34K plus tax when I bought it new. As much as I did not want to trade it in, I thought it would be better to do it sooner than later. Here were the reasons for gladly trading-in for a Lexus; With crazy gas prices these days, Pilot's MPG was only 17-20 at the best, driving feels clumsy like driving a Ford Explorer or Expedition, turning is VERY lazy, 3rd row seating got never used, gear stick is stiff and steering wheel is too heavy to drive it easily, paint came peeling off on couple of spots(even after getting special paint protective package), weak battery(two stock Delphi batteries died on me), leather material started to wear out, w/ lines and faded areas, becaue it is lower quality/thin), rear hatch door is too heavy, 16" wheels and donut tires got old fast (most SUVs now come w/ at least 17"), crappy stereo/speakers, unpleasant dealer services, front leg rooms are bad fr anyone over 5'8" (especially the passenger side), and last but not least, Lexus does everything better....read morehide

- Storage space, engine
- BAD MPG! noisy cabin!!!
I have 07' EXL w/ Navi. I also got the running boards for $700.00. I didnot test drive the Highlander or RX350 beforehand. BIG mistake. Ride was so much smoother and engine feels powerful yet not 'urgent' feel like Pilot/MDX. Pilot has shorter 1st to 3rd gear ratio, so when you accelerate, frequently I catch my RPM reaching over 4K, and this is without gunning it. Let me tell you, RX felt MUCH more smooth and gear ratio is just perfect. I should have spent little more and looked at Toyota products. My friend just bought 08' RX350, and he and his wife are very satisfied. They are getting 25 MPG!! That is just amazing...No wonder they are #1 manufacturer....read morehide

- Energetic engine, spacious
- poor traction, bad stereo system, noisy ride, too much wind noise
This is one wide SUV. Unless you are VERY good and careful with parking in small spaces, esp. in city/urban life, you will have heck of time. If you don't need all that space (by the way, I strongly wouldn't recommend buying it for 3rd row seating, since that is the riskiest place in accident for your kids, esp. in rear-end crashes). Cheap vinyl 3rd seat and cheap plastics inside. Even in good roads, you will hear annoying creaking sound. Also, driving at high speed, or in windy days, you hear too much WIND NOISE, for what Honda claims a aerodynamic suv. Otherwise, good cabin storages. MPG is far worse than what I anticipated. If you don't need all that space, there no need to haul around over 4500 LB vehicle. I am getting average 16 mpg and I am very fuel conscientious driver. I heard MDX is even worse.
If you want to save oney, get CRV or new RAV4. If you want SUV that will carry the qualities and resale value for more years to come, nest time, I am going for Highlander or RX....read morehide

- Storage, engine, ergonomics
- Noisy ride, body roll, poot stereo/speakers
I traded in my 06' Pilot EXL Navi for an 08' RX350. I am so glad that I went for Lexus. Honda uses cheap materials inside. When I took the door panels off to upgrade speakers (factory CD changer unit & speakers were very low-end, too much background noise and poor acoustics; most sound are heard from knee-level) and Pilot had too much road noise, too wide to easily park in small spaces, gear lever too stiff and in awkardly located, rear hatch-door is too heavy, too much body lean while turning, poor MPG (average only 15-16 w/ conservative driving w/o AC), front hood sticks out from driver's view making parking visibility poor. Lastly, lots of RATTLES and CREAKS!!...read morehide

- Powerful headlights, Spacious, sliding 2nd row seats, rear view camera, good turning radius
- Heavy,Wind noise, hard leather seats, rough ride, rattles, only front mudguards,
We did all the paperwork/vin# for '07 Odyssey, but at the last moment my wife wanted to go with Pilot (just for its looks!). So ended up with 2007 Pilot EX-L with Nav & Rear View Camera. Dark Cherry Pearl with Saddle Interior.
Just 4 days and almost 400 plus miles.
Spacious, high seating, big rear view mirrors, heated seats, good turning radius. Headlight/foglamps are powerful. Came with a wireless bluetooth kit (mirror attachment).
2nd row seats can slide forward to create some legroom for 3rd row. 2nd row and 3rd row seats have multiple recline positions.
Rear view camera activates when put in reverse gear. pretty nice view.
Individual climate controls for 2nd row seat. 3 power outlets
Heavy and so feels sluggish on acceleration(especially from standstill or low speedsVery loud wind noise from around 30 mph.)
Leather seats are hard and short (feels like legs doesn't have enough support)
[Highlander/Odyssey have better acceleration and riding comfort ]
Rear mudguards are extra (looks wierd with just the front ones)
Can feel the road bumps/potholes.
Some rattling near the driver's window seals
Fuel economy :
So far - almost 22.5 mpg (90% highway, no jack rabbit starts, between 55 - 60 mph, occassional 70 mph, coasting etc)...read morehide

- Navigation, Seat Comfort, Storage Space when 2nd & 3rd row down
- Mileage, Road Noise
I have been using this Pilot from May 2006. I have travelled from East Coast to West Coast. The vehicle is very reliable on long rides. The Mileage is between 15 to 23. The worst Part is the Road/Wind noise which are intolerable sometimes. Had around 17K on it.
Rear View backup camera is very cool.
The sound system should have been better for a 37K vehicle....read morehide

- Fuel consumption (14 MPG City and 18 MPG HW), Rattle like rattle sneak
I went to Benard Honda in Framingham, Mass to replace my honda
pilot after owning it for 2.5 yrs.
1) Resales value is bad - let me repeat - very bad - why - sales mgt telling me that new body style coming out in 08 and "older" body style
is not desired - It is Honda
2) This car is rated to consume 17 MPG city and 22 MPG highway. I have more than 23956 miles on this vehivel and I get 12-14 MPG city and 16-18 on highway. I told it to sales man - his response -if I drive carefully I may get higher MPG - FU*K U - It is Honda
3) After owning it for 6 Month - it started rattle from front dash board - right above the radio/DVD system - As I drive more and more, it rattle more and more like mad rattle sneak. - It is Honda
Overall, it had been ok experience with Pilot. would i buy it again - no
-I would look into Acura MDX.

- No trim specified for this review
- Space for eight passengers.
- Horrible on gas, rattles, week body.
Really hate this car. Can't understand what other people are raving about. The worst thing about it is fuel consumption. I get 8MPG while Honda's estimate was supposed to be 17-22. Honda won't do anything about it but provide nonsensical excuses.
I don't undersand Honda can get away with such outragous lies....read morehide

- A gas guzzler
This car is rated to consume 17 MPG city and 22 MPG highway. I have more than 2000 miles on this vehivel and I get 8-11 MPG city and 16-18 on highway. Judge for yourself.

- visibility, engine power
- poor reliability
Very annoying squeaking noise from the engine right after I drove off my 07 pilot from the dealer. They lube the belt first, then replace the tensioner bearing, now waiting for a new air compressor, who knows what is next. Spent a whole week back and forth to the dealer was very frustrated.
Owned an accord, CRV, and an Odyssey before. I think Honda is definitely going down hill in term of vehicle reliability, this may be the last Honda I ever want to buy...read morehide
