Purchased As New
I purchased my 2013 Pilot at the beginning of Oct. 2012. Since then, I've done 2 long road trips, and drive it daily. Great fuel milage, great pick up, and excellent handling. I'm biased when it comes to Honda. I also have a 2000 Civic along with a 2005 Accord. If you're looking for a SUV/Crossover that handles like a car but seats the same amount as a truck, this is the purchase.
A reviewer indicated that the Pilot is constantly wearing brakes out. I'm thinking if you're doing heavy towing, hard stops (constantly) or constant stop and go, then yes as with any vehicle, you will need to replace brakes more frequently. I believe the reviewer indicated they were at 40 or 50K miles. That's great that you were able to get that far with the same brake pads. Normally brakes last anywhere from 12-18K miles.
If you're looking for a reliable purchase, I say anything Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. These brands tend to hold their value, and give you a lot for your buck. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for American Made products, that's why I bought my house here (smile). But for my vehicle, I'm just not ready to make an American auto purchase yet because of the hard plastics, and short lifespans.
