2001 Honda Prelude User Reviews

- VTEC, Exterior, Honda Reliability
- No 5th gear on AT(SportShift models), Cheap Interior, Back Seat, Heavy Curb Weight
Purchased As Used
I own a 2001 Honda Prelude (Base)
VTEC torque is strong enough to push your back into the seat. The car looks great and is very reliable for being a compact-sports coupe.
No 5th gear on AT(SportShift models). First gear range is pathetic - most times while using SportsShift in heavy traffic my car stays in 2nd gear. RPMs are too high in speeds of 70MPH+.
Interior is cheap - Cheap plastics throughout. (I think this was done to eliminate curb weight) Not the level of quality you would expect from a compact sports coupe that had an orginal MSRP of $23,600.
Back Seat - This isn't the car you use to pick up your buddies, It's a car that you drive with your girl (or man, for the ladies) in the front seat. Why they put a back seat in this car makes no sense. There is zero room to sit or stretch out and makes the whole car uncomfortable to drive when someone is back there. Not as bad as a Mitsubishi Eclipse, but close.
Curb Weight - Very Heavy. The car struggles in lower gears. VTEC makes up for it in 2nd and 3rd gears. For all reasons, if you can, drop the back-seat burden.
