- In bed trunk, Nav unit, great ride, handles like a car.
- Gas milage could have been better, lockable tailgate, daytime running lights
I purchased my Honda a year ago this month. I traded in a 1500 Chevy Avalanche and have no regrets in doing so. When I bought my Avalanche I needed a truck of that size to tow my jet boat around. When I sold my boat I came to the realization that a truck the size of the Avalanche and with that type of power was no longer needed. So I trade her in for the Honda Ridgeline. I have been happy ever since. It is true that the bed in the Honda is some what smaller but I am not hauling a boat load of stuff any longer. As for being under powered, I can still tow 2 Jet Skis around just fine. The Avalanche would have been just over kill at this point. As for gas mileage, I get way better gas mileage (I average 18 20 mpg city/highway combined) when comparing the Honda to the Chevy. As for creature comforts, the Honda wins hands down over my Chevy. As for safety check out how many 5 star ratings the Honda got verses the big three. The Honda blows them out of the water. Finally, Hondas reputation in reliability is at the top of the heap.
So before you go belittling the Honda Ridgeline determine what your needs are before you make any decision. The Honda is for the Urbanite with small weekend projects, runs to your favorite hardware store, tailgate parties at the beach or the stadium or jet skiing at your favorite beach or lake.
Now if youre hauling your entire collection of tools around because you are running your construction business out the bed of your truck then consider a full size vehicle like a Chevy or Dodge.
