Now that it's broken in, I'm getting about 35-38 mpg in city, 42 plus on the highway. The car doesn't have a whole lot of power, but it makes up for it with 5 gears, There can be a slight hesitancy when slowing down to make a turn, then speeding back up. This is either in the computer, or the transmission searching for the proper gear, or both. Honda must have added an auxiliary tank, because I've put in over 10 gallons, when it showed an eighth of a tank. Honda uses a chain instead of a belt to drive the overhead camshaft. This eliminates maintenance and a broken belt and engine. The computer tells you when to do maintenance. At 16,000 miles, the air filters are still good. When do you do tune ups, etc, I don't know. The stereo sounds excellent, with plenty of bass. The radio controls, (without nav) control the Ipod. With only one line showing up, it can take awhile to scroll thru your music files. Currently, tires are an odd size, so you'll have to get a compatible size, since I'm told the tires only last about 30,000 miles. I've noticed that when going down the mountains, as you're pumping the brakes, the computer will see that and shift to a lower gear to give you engine braking. The only glitch I've had is that the computer automatically locks the doors (by default), when taking off. You can disable it, or as I have done, have it unlock the driver's side door when placing it back in Park. It doesn't always do it. I haven't taken it in to the dealership yet. I took 2 trips to Florida last winter. I had a bicycle behind the front seats (magic seat) and luggage in the back. A well thought out car....read morehide

Bought to replace Honda Accord. Liked the trim package and overall look. The interior is modern in look and design. It has ok pickup, its a fuel efficient car, not a sports car. Its a little unstable at high highway speeds but not unmanageable.

This is a very good car, I recommend them all the time. It feels so much bigger than it actually is, especially inside, I regularly have a full size mountain bike in mine. I usually average 36-38 mpg and I don't always use a light foot. I only have a few complants. First, the range isn't great for long trips, about 265-280 miles if you fill up with around 1/4 left. Second, you will want to stay alert during crosswinds, but what do you expect for a short wheel base car with almost flat sides. Third, the ride can be rough over broken pavement, but again, nothing horrible. I'm being picky here, there are far to many positives about this car. Great aux/USB hookups, backseats are very versitile, great shifting 5-speed, easy clutch, good outward visibility. This truly is the best car in its class, if you shop around for other cars in the class you will definatly end up with the Fit. Even if you pay just a little more, your happiness will make up for it....read morehide

I have been using my Jeep Jk for my daily driver since I bought it back in 10/06..I love my Jeep and vowed to never get rid of it..I recently paid it off and after last summers fuel prices I decided to get a third car. I have been looking at the Fit for sometime adn when I saw the 2009 models I knew it was time..I went to a local Honda Dealer and they had one that they had outfitted with leather interior,,had the Honda emblem in the seats..the wife dug it so we drove one..bought it off the showroom floor. Compared to my Jeep this thing sips gas..its fun to drive,,it zips around..plenty of room inside for me and the wife and whatever junk we haul around.. I cant complain at all about any noted shortcommings as my Goal was to buy something to save Gas...be kinda cool and differant..hence why I opted for the Honda and shelled out a little more than other vehicles in this group...the mere fact I am saving coin on gas and when prices jump way up there again I will still be able to go places without breaking the bank sealed the deal for me..this is my second Honda and 4th Honda product..the wife drives an Acura and has had two other models...Keep in mind one gets what the price range dictates..Hondas are durable,,they get great MPGs and are a great value...I had a Civic back in the day and looked at them again before buying the Fit...the Fit is a a great little car...I actuall enjoy driving the little thing...the ride is great for a sub compact and no you will not when any drag races off the starting line..but I did not buy it to race..I bought it to save me some coin on gas and so far it has done exactly everything I thought it would and in the process gave me a smile every now and then....read morehide

I just purchased the 2009 Fit Base model 2 weeks ago and I am in love with it. It's my first and most prized item and the car is extremely comfortable! I'm getting around 40mpg! The radio system actually is pretty good in this car, it's better than the old 2002 Honda accord that I have been driving around with. It has an extremely roomy interior and though I do not have an arm-rest because I have the base model, I don't miss any of those little add-ons....read morehide

I test drove a few different compact cars, and the fit had the most enjoyable driving feel to it. the visibility is great, and I did not feel claustrophobic in it like most of the other smaller vehicles I tested. I am eager to see what gas milage I end up with, There is a real time indicator showing how your fuel consumption is at any given moment, so you can actually learn to drive in the most fuel efficient manner. It handles beautifully, and I can park almost anywhere. The back seats are kind of small, but there is room enough for a full sized adult back there, and I like the options for folding the seats up or down to haul things. Transmission shifts nicely....read morehide

We;ve had our Fit for @ 9 months, and love it! With a little practice, I get over 40 mpg combined city/hwy [60 mph, cruise control, and a few other tricks], and can haul a lot of stuff in it. A great car!

I am really happy with my Honda Fit, the gas mileage is better than listed, interior is spacious, expecially considering the its small size. I live in the mountains and have to down shift to maintain speed over the pass. Overall a great car.

I have been a returning Honda Owner for 10 years and this is my 3rd Honday and my favorite. I love the space it has and the MPG I get. I am consistantly getting 37-38 MPG ( I drive all Highway) and I can get so much stuff in the back that we rarely use my husbands Nissan Alitma anymore. It is comfortable to take long drives and it has all the bells and whistles I need.
I did get the base model so it did not come with keyless entry or cruise control but neither has really been missed. It is fun to drive and it is the most usefull car I have ever had!
I would tell everyone to get one if they need something smaller than a truck but bigger than a car. I call it my Mini Minivan!...read morehide

I just got my Fit 2 weeks ago and me (6' 2") and my family of 4 love it. I have a 5 y.o. and a 2 y.o. and they FiT with room to spare even with their car seats! I traded in an Isuzu Rodeo and the Fit has just as much room. With the magic rear seats you can store stuff under the seats as well as the trunk. No Its not that fast off the line but it handles like driving a Go-Kart parking lots are fun to drive in now!. Its a great second family car. So far I've been averaging 32.5 mpg. I hear as it gets older mpg gets better too! No reason not to buy it. Just go to the car dealer ready to negotiate because I found one dealer that wouldn't budge on their price of $19000 so I Ieft. I bought it somewhere else for $17163 and got what I wanted for my trade in. Be willing to leave if you don't get the deal you want there is sure to be a honda dealer/salesman desperate to make a deal. This is a no brainer purchase....read morehide
