Superb car of its class and for the money

by S2000 owner from Long Island, NY (7/06/08)
Pros:Decent fuel economy, Get the looks, Short shifters, Vtec, Easy and fast convertible top.
Cons:Suspension is stiff, Small truck space, Premium gas, Standard Audio with not that great of speakers.

I own the 2003 model of the S2000, the last year with 9000RPMs and without the traction control.
Honda tweaked with the engine and suspension for the 2004 and on models, I've seen reviews of both, and they made the S2000 more track tuned and faster.
with the stiff suspension, you will find yourself feeling every little bump on the road, little inclines for speed bumps or garages are not friendly for your underbody.
never tracked the car yet, but the car is a speed demon on the city and highway. you'll reach 80 on third, and 120 on fourth.
because of the low profile of the front end of the car, you'll end up chipping your windshield alot, especially if you tail gate, and its a dirty highway. i have two cracked windshield already.
unless you redline the car everytime you drive, you'll get decent gas mileage at 25mpg at least.
the audio system can use a little work.
drove the car for more than 10,000 miles on it already. never lost the Enthusiasm for it. you'll always get people asking you what kind of car is it, get the looks from the girls.
test drive one, when you slip the tires going from 1st to 2nd with the rev going above 7000 and you hear that faint screech from your tires, you'll know how fun it is to own and drive the S2000

The best of the best

by Dan Costa from Brentwood CA (7/05/08)
Pros:28 to 33 mpg unless your really on it. Easy maintainence. First class roadster.
Cons:It,s a little rough but read up on how it's built, (like a tank.)

For quailty all across the board you will not find a better roadster. I did my homework for a year before I bought this car. I've had this car for over a year now. I never owned a better car.

Technicological Marvel from Honda

by cferretti from Montclair, NJ (6/24/08)
Pros:A life-sized slotcar. Great fuel economy for a "supercar"
Cons:ride is stiff, track car suspension, what did you expect?

This is a great, great car. It is better than a boxster and easier to work on, i.e., change oil, spark plugs, etc. I tried both and wound up with this one. Prefer the earlier incarnation, 9000 rpm, no traction control, or softer suspension.

But the current one is quite a great technological accomplishment. It's too bad that the scuttlebutt is that this is the last year for the model....

If that is so, when I keep the car until it put up 200,000 miles. In these times, at low revs it behaves like a civic. Once VTec kicks in at 6,000 revs it feels like a different car. The engine has a deeper sound, and you are pushed back into the seat. Not like a big v-8, but a pretty good one for a little, 2.0 liter "lawnmover" engine, that has been tuned by Formula One engineers.

Car is great in all weathers, it even does a pretty good job in snow with dedicated snow tires. Would like Honda to keep making the car, sad that it won't be so. Hope they change mind.

If is not a push or luxurious car, not as nice inside as a boxster, but it is the closest to a track are for the street you can get. It is a life sized slot car!

Super FUN

by Leah from Ellenton, Fl (5/15/08)
Pros:Acceleration, Breaking, Easy Auto Top, Decent Trunk Space
Cons:Not A Luxury Sprts Car, Rough Ride, No GPS/Satalite Radio prewired

I'm girl, so I don't know much or care about HP vs. torque and all that, BUT, when I test drove this car, I drove it off the lot. I've had it about 6mo. & I love it. Great acceleration, tight handling, and quick shift. Eats gas when you get on it, but does well on the highway even at 100. People love this car and are amazed it's a Honda. Can't wait to take it to the track...

Take it from an owner

by Matt I. from Yonkers, NY (5/11/08)
Pros:Absolutely the most fun, best handling car I have ever owned.
Cons:Rough ride but understandable since its a sports car, needs more horsepower.

This is a purists car, no creature comforts here. Superb handling, great looking car, fade free brakes. This is not a straightline race car, this car was meant for the twisties. Limited production so you wont see many on the road. Lots of compliments for onlookers. IF your looking for big horsepower look elsewhere, if your looking for great handling and a fun to drive car this is your best choice for the price.

Honda does it better.

by rich from fairview heights, illinois (4/03/08)
Pros:True sport car performance... 6 second up or down on convertible top... fun to drive
Cons:More noise than your bigger size cars. In the Midwest, all season tires should be standard.

This is my second S2000. An absolute fun car, with lots of safety and performance features...a real value for the price...

S2000 CR will definitely put a grin on your face

by Julius from Fontana, CA (12/10/07)
Pros:Track-ready. Incredible handling.
Cons:Rough ride. Very sensitive steering.

Bought the 08 S2000 CR (with A/C & Radio) at the end of November. Finally got around to taking it to the track after breaking in the engine. I have to admit, I've never thought that a car that's completely stock can grip so well around turns. While it won't keep up with most other sports cars on the straights, very few cars can keep up with this one around a turn.

I also use this car as a daily driver. I'll say one thing for sure, it's not for everyone. The stiffer suspension settings combined with the low-profile performance tires makes you feel every single bump on the road. Bucket seats don't help the comfort level either. In adition to that, the steering is incredibly sensitive. There is very little (possibly none) play from dead center to turn the car. I personally don't mind the sensitive steering and stiffer suspension. But others might find it tiring on long drives.

But if you're lookin for a car to drive for fun once in a while, and take it to the track. This is probably the best thing you can get for the price. Other possible competitors would be something along the lines of a Lotus Exige or Porshe 911.

You won't be disappointed

by Doc Perry from PC OK (10/10/07)
Pros:Powerful, lean, beautifully sleak and turns heads wherever you go.
Cons:Wish it were less pricey. Sports cars and Comfort? Powerful smaller cars may hydroplane!

I've owned two previously, all seemed to be exceptional values with high trade/re-sale. acceleration is phenomenal, and design features maintain looks while improving performance.
