2008 Hyundai Accent

- good fuel economy, alot of space for a small car
- not much trunk space, miss power door locks and windows
I bought my 2008 Hyundai in July. I was rearended a month later and had no injuries. Barely felt the bump. Last week I was t-boned by a large SUV. My side airbags deployed and the car crumbled around me, but my daughter and I sustained minimal injuries. Seat belt burns and bruising. The paramedics could not believe we walked around without a trip to the hospital.
My car is a total loss, but I am replacing the vehicle with the same one.
My family and friends always told me me that if I were ever to get into a serious wreck in my little car, I wouldn't make it out alive. Thank you Hyundai for allowing me to see 2009 with my family and friends!!...read morehide

- Good fuel economy, 6 airbags, good handling, great to park, looks awesome (2dr), fun to drive!
- interior plastic easily scratches, better seats for long rides, no aux-input or mp3
I am a college student and I bought a new 2007 Hyundai Accent. I really love this car - I have had no problems at all (12 000 miles). My Accent gets about 24 MPG ( automatic transmission, AC, all the time driving in NYC). The acceleration could be better but it is not a car designed for aggressive driving. Very good choice if you think about your first car....read morehide

- This car was rated at 32 MPG at 55MPH I get 41 MPG. Iv'e owned 3 Accents and would buy another.
- Ride need work and it needs more leg room but for the money what can I say.
Over all I rate the Accent A-. Dollar for dollar its a great value. I would buy one for my Kids to drive. It needs a little inprovement but
Hyundai is getting the Idea... :0)

- 45MPG to 1400 foot pass from sea level, 100% working, slick 5sp. shifter-clutch combo
- 2900rpms @ 60MPH, not even pop-out rear windows
41.5, 42.6, & 45.2 MPG over 1400, 3000, 4000, & 5500 foot mountain passes to Mt. Rainier & e. Washington from sea level on 3 day trips! If you feather foot, Accent gives superlative MPG. Thru a long cold winter, Accent averaged 33MPG on a tough commute of stop & go highway traffic. At 10,000 miles, Accent works 100% with no squeaks, creaks, or rattles.
The roll down front windows are the easiest windows I've used. I don't need electric windows. One problem: rear windows do NOT roll down...not even pop-out windows.
For base car, Accent has 8-way adjustable driver's seat, tach, inside adjustable mirrors, mudflaps, rear window defroster(but no rear wiper), driver's arm rest, & 2 trip odometers.
Get the short-shifter installed. It is a very sweet shifter that makes driving a pleasure. Accent needs to spread the 5 speed transmission ratios out or add a sixth gear to lower rpms at higher speeds. The lower geared 5th gear is for those who don't want to shift down to get good acceleration. In this day of high priced gasoline, Hyundai needs to listen to feather footers, not lead footers.
I would have liked less angle of the rear of the Accent for more storage space.
Accent has the same exterior width as the Toyota Yaris & Honda Fit. But Accent has 1 to 3 more inches interior shoulder width than Yaris, & a bit more than Fit....read morehide

- Great gas mileage. Fun to drive.
- Drivers seat not too comfortable on long drives.
This is our first Hyundai, we are Toyota people. But when we started looking for a small car that gets good gas mileage, we ended up with the Accent. We got the base 3 door model with AC and radio/cd player. I just took it on a road trip from Idaho Falls, ID to San Diego with two kids. The driver's seat wasn't too comfortable for such a long drive, but I got 38 mpg on the freeway! That made up for a little discomfort. There was plenty of room in the trunk for three small suitcases and miscellaneous stuff! Really happy with it's performance, kept the speed between 70-75 mph and the car did great. Very happy with our Accent. Great for running around town too. Good value for the money. Like the side airbags being standard (unlike the Yaris.) Rebate was great too....read morehide

- Looks good, safe, sturdy, very fuel efficient.
- Interior plastic scratches easily.
My Hyundai Accent GS just got 34.12 MPG city. I haven't had it on the interstate yet, I'm guessing though, that I'll get 40 or more MPG when I do. Nearest competion costs more & has less. No tachometer, no cd player and can't match the Hyundai warrenty.

- Decent fuel economy. Snappy motor. Nice instruments. Plenty of room.
- Needs an overdrive gear on the 5 speed manual. Revs a bit high.
I'm 6' 5" tall, and I have plenty of head and leg room in this car. The motor is quite snappy and pulls very well. It takes no time to get to highway speed. I wasn't sure if this car would be alright on a long trip, but it proved me wrong, and did quite well. You can pack loads of gear in this car by folding down the back seats. I could not believe how much I got back there. The steering on the car is great. It handles real well, and is quite responsive. The seats and other parts of the interior are adequate. You cannot expect button tuffed leather seats in a $13,000 car. Gas mileage is not quite what the sticker says when you buy the car, but mine is still in the break-in period, so it may improve after the first oil change.
All in all, I'm impressed with the car, and would consider another Hyundai in the future. It's definitely got one of the best warranties in the buisness. 10/100,000 mile is pretty decent on a car of this price. It's one of the things that drew me to it. With repair costs the way that they are these days, you want to have a warranty as long as you possibly can....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, crisp handling, strong brakes, peppy driver
- too much road noise,
Great car for the money. I recommend it highly as it's my second Hyundai since I bought a new 2001 Santa Fe. I do miss the Santa Fe's power windows, power locks and the like but I got a bare bones model (except for the radio and air conditioning), I recommend getting a small car soon as with rising gas prices and a devaluating dollar they won't be this cheap for long. 31.8 MPG with the first fill up. That's around town and up and down some big hills driving....read morehide

- Steering responsive, brakes worked well, firm suspension, accelerated well.
- Needs a 6th gear. Engine is buzzy at 70 mph @ 3500 rpms. No cruise control.
I test drove a GS 2 door manual today in hopes that I might want to buy it since it gets pretty good mpg. Unfortunately, after a test drive on the freeway, I was disappointed at the high rpms, even though I was already in 5th gear. It sounded like I was still in 4th gear. I really liked the car overall. It braked and accelerated well for a 4 cyclinder. Also seemed to take the freeway on ramp pretty well. Ride was firm, which I like, when going over bumps in the road. Overall, I would have bought this car, if it wasn't so buzzy at highway speeds. It would be a great car for running around town or under 60 mpg. Also, I wish it had cruise control. This would have to be added as an aftermarket item. Other bad item, sales rep tried to tell me it has disc brakes front and rear and ABS standard. Rear is drum and ABS is only on the SE model. It pays to do your research. :)...read morehide

- Great little car for the money
- I would like to see a rear windshield wiper
This is my 3rd Hyundai. Never a problem, just change the oil every three months and go. All of mine were hatch backs. You can haul a house in one of these dispite the small size they hold more then you would think. Gas milage is great and I really appreciate that right now with prices the way they are. I don't care about depreciation since I kept each of my cars for more then 10 years then gave them away. I have no doubt I'll do the same with this one also. More then worth the money....read morehide
