2008 Hyundai Accent User Reviews
GS 3-Door shown
- $6,095 - $8,055
- great mpg great ride great handling
- none that i can find
Purchased As New
I got this car last year in March. Right now it has 17k miles on it. And i do not take it to the service unless I am getting the oil changed which is a regular thing with cars. It gets great gas mileage the dealer and the salesman are very cool and it fills up for almost nothing. Before I got this car I really did not like Hyundai because of the old ones they were really rated bad. But now I know that Hyundai has gotten a lot better. And I will definitely buy another one. Also suggest people to buy it. It's worth the price. Do not think that its a bad car just cause its cheap....read morehide

- good fuel economy, alot of space for a small car
- not much trunk space, miss power door locks and windows
I bought my 2008 Hyundai in July. I was rearended a month later and had no injuries. Barely felt the bump. Last week I was t-boned by a large SUV. My side airbags deployed and the car crumbled around me, but my daughter and I sustained minimal injuries. Seat belt burns and bruising. The paramedics could not believe we walked around without a trip to the hospital.
My car is a total loss, but I am replacing the vehicle with the same one.
My family and friends always told me me that if I were ever to get into a serious wreck in my little car, I wouldn't make it out alive. Thank you Hyundai for allowing me to see 2009 with my family and friends!!...read morehide

- Sips gas, well equipped, looks great, 5 star value for money
- its a sub-compact - it is what it is
So we bought a new 2008 SE (loaded) 5 speed- hooked a fully packed Uhaul to the back end and drove 2,800 miles across the country. WOW!
Gas mileage 22mpg. It was a pleasure to drive. Other than being a bit cramped, the car was fantastic. Can wait to drive it without the trailer.
This is our second Accent (previous was bare bones 2001).
Comment: the 2008 has a backseat that folds flat. the 2009 only reclines. Hyundai dropped the ball by making this design change. If cargo space is an issue, buy a 2008....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, 6 airbags, good handling, great to park, looks awesome (2dr), fun to drive!
- interior plastic easily scratches, better seats for long rides, no aux-input or mp3
I am a college student and I bought a new 2007 Hyundai Accent. I really love this car - I have had no problems at all (12 000 miles). My Accent gets about 24 MPG ( automatic transmission, AC, all the time driving in NYC). The acceleration could be better but it is not a car designed for aggressive driving. Very good choice if you think about your first car....read morehide

- I drove to Plano, Texas from Las Vegas, Nevada on $115.00 Gas!
- A touch shakey in the steering wheel at high speed
I drove to Texas, over 1,200 miles with no problems at all. The car fit my 5'7" tall frame without cruise control just fine and my legs didn't hurt and I didn't cramp up like with most of my cars on such a long drive. I like the seats and the balance with the steering wheel and pedals. Even the roll up windows turned out the be just fine and I actually liked getting back to the basics with this car. I bought it for my son who lives in Plano, Texas, and he is very happy with his new Hyndai. After almost 3 weeks, he called me to to let me know that he finally bought his first tank of gas! Now that's a great deal for a college student!...read morehide

- WHAT A GREAT DEAL. DEALERS IN LV ARE GIVING THEM AWAY
- Plastic is cheap, but what the hell, $7.458 with a/c
I bought my daughter a 02 Accent brand new. It never went back for even a burned out light bulb. After 70k I put on new brakes, belts, and had new tires installed. I'm trying to work out a deal for another one.
My brother also bought a new one. He claims the secret to our happy Hyundai is I have changed the oil/filter every 3000k. His currently is on around 145k miles and still going strong....read morehide

- 45MPG to 1400 foot pass from sea level, 100% working, slick 5sp. shifter-clutch combo
- 2900rpms @ 60MPH, not even pop-out rear windows
41.5, 42.6, & 45.2 MPG over 1400, 3000, 4000, & 5500 foot mountain passes to Mt. Rainier & e. Washington from sea level on 3 day trips! If you feather foot, Accent gives superlative MPG. Thru a long cold winter, Accent averaged 33MPG on a tough commute of stop & go highway traffic. At 10,000 miles, Accent works 100% with no squeaks, creaks, or rattles.
The roll down front windows are the easiest windows I've used. I don't need electric windows. One problem: rear windows do NOT roll down...not even pop-out windows.
For base car, Accent has 8-way adjustable driver's seat, tach, inside adjustable mirrors, mudflaps, rear window defroster(but no rear wiper), driver's arm rest, & 2 trip odometers.
Get the short-shifter installed. It is a very sweet shifter that makes driving a pleasure. Accent needs to spread the 5 speed transmission ratios out or add a sixth gear to lower rpms at higher speeds. The lower geared 5th gear is for those who don't want to shift down to get good acceleration. In this day of high priced gasoline, Hyundai needs to listen to feather footers, not lead footers.
I would have liked less angle of the rear of the Accent for more storage space.
Accent has the same exterior width as the Toyota Yaris & Honda Fit. But Accent has 1 to 3 more inches interior shoulder width than Yaris, & a bit more than Fit....read morehide

- Great Looks, great A/C, great engine reliability.
- No power..none... Plastic inside scratches easily. Engine High rev noise after 3500rpm.
I bought this car mainly for the gas mileage. So far my best gas mileage has been 25mpg. Not good for a car this size and engine this small...great repair service at my dealer..If buying to save gas get a yaris instead.
