They cheat big way on the stated MPG! Compared to my old Honda Civic 2003, this is a gas guzzler. The engine is more powerful than in a Honda in the same price slot, but you don't feel that when you need it, that is, when accelerating on a highway or driving uphill. That's because of the hesitant transmission I suppose. The Eco drive does not seem to be doing anything in terms of saving the fuel. Overall, a pretty big disappointment for me....read morehide

I have had an Accent for 10 years. It has been into the shop 2 times...for the 30000 mile tuneup and the 60000 mile tuneup. I have never had a problem with the car. It is roomy, and has plenty of power in traffic. My car is manual 5-speed. I've had this car for about 6 months now and never seen mpg's over 37 even if all highway and city driving? right around 21 mpgs at rush hour traffic. very uncomfortable for road trips. and has a small tank only 9 gallons and gets about 200 miles to a full tank before gas light comes on. resale value is also horrible as i tried to sale it since its not was i was expecting. Statistics first: MPG: city/hwy/combined - 34/53/39. Read it and weep. It's on par with hybrids and diesels. It's all about driving techniques. A salesman told me: " Let the automatic do it's thing in Eco-mode." It took two months to understand the car's formula and six months perfecting it. Definitely make sure the tires are properly inflated at 32 PSI minimum. If you inflate to 36 PSI you'll have a huge jump in efficiency without any real trade offs in handling and smoothness. This car is almost worth more than what it retails at. The ergonomics are easy to use, it's easy to drive, Bluetooth is easy to use, the room is good and overall quality is good. The traction control is very good. A lot of consumers who bought this car have voiced the need for power. Have you drove it right until the cams kick in? It's very fast. The best way to find out - turn off Eco-mode and put it in Shiftonic and wind it out. You'll be doing 80 MPH and feel like you're going 50 or less. This car is quiet for it's class. Just put it back in Eco-mode when you don't need the extra power and let the transmission drive itself. It also has a Eco-mode defeat feature that kicks in while in Drive mode if you just mash the peddle. The competition has nothing on this car. It's a solid winner....read morehide

Bought new, doesnt come with a donut tire for flat tires, that costs $300 extra. Did not buy donut tire thru dealership. Comes with fix a flat tire can in trunk. This is a safety issue to me, and all my friends agree. (my neighbor found me a brand new donut tire in an abandoned apartment, lucky me)

Great gas mileage, but have been disappointed by its performance on hills which are part of my daily drive. It's even worse if the air conditioner is on. Be sure your test drive includes hills.

Just had my first need to use the rear window defogger. It took 20 minutes to clear the window. When I called the service manager, he said, "That's normal for moisture, but it's great on ice." Unfortunately, here in the Pacific Northwest, we have more moisture than ice."...read morehide

I purchased the vehicle in 7/11 and have been surprisingly satisfied. I average between 35 and 43mpgs depending on my driving habits. On one long drive I managed to average about 53mpgs. Performance is ehh, but it’s an economy car so you can't expect it to go fast. Comfort is decent, cruise control would have been a benefit but not the end of the world. I would say if you are looking for a reliable car that is affordable and gets some solid gas mileage then this is a solid choice. It is a sub-compact so space is limited....read morehide

I bought the Accent for an economical commuting car. In my combined city/hwy commute I'm getting 37 mpg. The Accent gets up to speed quickly enough to merge onto the freeway easily. My only gripe so far is that you can't get the cruise control in the base model and trim. I like the 6 speed manual, but the auto trans would do fine, too....read morehide

I bought this car for the MPG and good room for a subcompact. It has been a good car- no rattles, or anything that would me make think twice about Hyundai Quality. The engine and automatic are excellent for this segment. The motor is nice and smooth once its broken in and it shifts perfect. As for the negatives I only have one, I manage 27mpg overall no matter how easy I take it. I have not taken it on a long freeway ride so I dont know how it does there....read morehide
