2009 Hyundai Azera User Reviews
- $11,561 - $13,619
- VERY quiet ride, incredible sound system, nimble handling, quick
- Gas mileage could be a little better
Purchased As New
I bought my 2008 Azera a year ago this month. It is the best car I've owned in my 35+ years of driving. Great handling, luxurious appointments, terrific sound system, huge trunk, great styling, GPS, and the quietest car I've ever been in. My friend with a Honda Accord he bought about 8 months before I bought my Azera likes the Azera better (the Honda has a much rougher, busy ride and is noisier). Add to this the best service I've ever gotten from a dealership, and I'm hooked. Highly recommended....read morehide

- Good looks, great ride, excellent performance.
- Interior is a bit cheap, seats a little short
Purchased As Used
I do not have a 2009 model but I did recently buy a 2007 Limited used with 22,000 miles on it. I was looking at some new cars and stumbled upon the Azera at the dealership. This car caught my eye but what really caught my eye was how inexpensive a used one is. Fact is they do not hold their resale value. $16K for a car with only 22,000 miles. Sounds great to me.
So far I've been keeping track of my MPG and with combined highway/city driving it's averaging 21 MPG. That's the same as my 2008 Maxima was getting and this car is much larger and has an extra 65 horses under the hood.
For a car with 22,000 miles it still looks new. In fact, all my co-workers thought it was new. This was a rental and the inside and outside still look new for a car most people don't care about keeping nice.
Performance is excellent. Very fast. Car rides great around town and on the highway. If you don't have a lead foot you will get decent fuel economy. If you floor it you won't do better then 18 MPG.
Down side. The interior looks great but is cheap. Cheap materials but hey, they had to cut the costs somewhere. Also the seats are a bit on the short side. Not enough for me to be uncomfortable but if they were a big longer, like maybe a few inches, they would be perfect.
I'd highly recommend someone buying one new if you intend to keep it for 5+ years or get one used with around 20,000 miles for almost half the cost of new....read morehide

- power / acceleration / great highway fuel mileage / more spacious than a Crown Victoria / long trip
- none that I could find over a weeks vacation
Purchased As Not Purchased
Rented this car for vacation trip from Baltimore to Atlanta and back. Extremely comfortable for a long trip, got great gas mileage considering the acceleration and speed I put it through! Had plenty of room for 3 peoples luggage in the trunk and the rear seat leg room was almost twice that of a Crown Victoria! I have driven a pick-up the last 10 years, but this auto could get me to consider a car again!...read morehide

- Luxury and High Performance at a Fraction of the Cost.
- None So Far. Incredible Car for the Money!
Was looking to purchase the Camrry / Accord and stumbled onto the Azera Limited. Truly a remarkable value when you put this car side by side with the Japanese top sellers. When a passenger gets into my car they always think it's a Lexus because of the attention to luxurious detail and smooth ride. Trust me, test drive this car and price it apples to apples against your Lexus, Camry, and Accord and you will find out as I did that this is a steal of a deal for a car of this quality at such a low price point....read morehide

- Comfort, style, features, value
- poor fuel economy
Really just a fantastic automobile. Tons of great features (i.e. rear-folding sun-shade, folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, etc.), excellent design (I love the comfort and access I have from the driver's seat - I don't have to reach for anything, unlike past cars of mine) and phenomenal value for the money. I love this car (though I've only had it about 2.5 months so far). SIGNIFICANTLY less expansive than other cars offering a similar driving experience.
Only downside is that my gas mileage has been pretty bad for the city driving I do (~15mpg). Disappointing, but since it's the only flaw, I can live with it....read morehide

- I couldn't say enough good about this car other than I was hoping for better fuel effeciency.
- Hyundai seems to have 2009 model about right. Nice handling.
I did the research and came down to the Hyundai Azera or Toyota Avalon. I test drove the Avalon, loved the ride but the handling was way to mushy. The Azera is no formula 1 race car for handling but I was much more pleased with it. For about 11,000 less then the Avalon which still wasn't as nicely appointed and the warranty is what closed the deal for me. Did a 1500 mile trip from Colorado to Nebrask to my folks, babied along at 67mph on the interstate I got 31mpg, but at a constant 75 climbing back to Colorado from Nebraska knocked it down to 27mpg. Love the car, even more than my old 71 Firebird. Adding to the fact the design, test and manufacturing is all done in the USA helped me feel even better. Had it for 5 weeks now and absolutely love it when my wife will let me drive it. :) If it had the Toyota logo on the trunk or grill for the price they couldn't keep them on he lot....read morehide

- Wonderful car for long trips, power and handling great
- Lost value of $10k off lot, poor paint (scratches), no attn. to small details
The Azera is the most comfortable long distance car I've been in (including Lincolns and Mercedes). For all the comfort, appointments and interior design, however, the attention to details is poor.
The "woodgrain" on the steering wheel scratches off with no explanation.
The the exterior paint job has the same problem...first time I waxed the car it left permanent swirl marks the have gotten deeper with time-along with the marks on the trunk from just grocery placing bags on it.
The thread that ties the leather onto the steering wheel is unraveling.
The controls on the radio make no sense what so ever.
The mileage is abominable...13 to 14 MPG in the city, according to the on board computer.
The car spent more time in the shop with minor problems...trim falling off, the car rolling backwards in park, transmission hesitations. The local Hyundai dealer left me feeling like a second class citizen, like they were doing me a favor servicing the warranty.
Couple this with a loss of $10,000 in value the instant I drove it off the lot, this car is overpriced. It mimics a BMW, but got lost somewhere in the process. I would think again, before buying....read morehide

- None this is the ultimate sedan
I recently traded my Lexus LS for a Hyundai Azera and the comparison is absolutely outstanding Hyundai is truly the vehicle that has America's best value!!! I have never been so glad to make this decision, maintaining My ex vehicle (Lexus LS) was getting very tight when it came to financial support. But this Hyundai Azera has everything you could ask for in order to have the Perfect Sedan I love every single inch square of the vehicle, Leather seats, GPS system, moonroof, woodgrain acceleration,comfort/roomy and I can keep going on forever I strogly recommend this vehicle to all those drivers around the world!!!!! This car is better than owning a BMW a Mercedes benz a Rolls Royce or a Bentley or a or any source of European car. the unanimous decision is Hyundai Azera you must also check out their other corporations suc as Mitsubishi. I love this car I think I will marry it and Divorce my wife!!!!!!...read morehide
