Purchased As New
This car was purchased for my wife who was coming from a Porsche 944S2. The Elantra is remarkably similar to that car in performance, but much more modern, of course. It has every feature normally found in cars costing 3 to 4 times as much. I see no big difference in equipment between it and my Equus. It has BIG doors, which permit easy entrance- even to the back seat if one is unlucky enough to have to do that. It is perky and handles very well. But, for the life of me, I can't see why manufacturers insist on using 'rough' coverings for door handles and the cargo bin between the seats. They are HARD on bare forearms!!!
The touch screen works very well, as do all the features such as 'Bluetooth'. When driving back to Dallas from Houston, where we bought the car, it was fun to talk freely between 2 cars- hands free. We logged 221 minutes of carefree talk.
I am not too happy that the car doesn't come with a spare. Instead it has an air pump and some sort of 'goop'. As I understand it, a lot of cars are doing this now, to save cost and weight, I assume. The funny thing is--someone threw one of those 'small' spares in the trunk- but there is no jack. It has 5 years of roadside assistance- so they will have a jack. We drove back from Houston at fairly high speeds and the engine was still 'tight' but still got 35 mpg.
