- Pros
- SUV-like cargo room for a compact sedan's fuel economy.
- Cons
- It offers so much; why not just a bit more, so the whole world would find it irrestible?
Purchased As New
Offers almost all features you would want in a vehicle. In fact, I could not find another car that offers so much for the money. I won't bore you with the feature list; it is the GLS automatic.
For the record, this may have the name Elantra, but it is not really a hatchback version of the Elantra. It is a vehicle in its own right, designed in Europe for the European market.
With the Elantra Touring, I get the trunk space of an SUV with the ride and fuel economy of a sedan.
With careful driving, I get 32 mpg in sub-urban driving. Have not got a chance to take it to the highway yet...hoping I will get more there. Drive smooth and gentle, and your mileage increases.
Cons:
It has no Daytime Running Lights. Bluetooth handsfree is not standard. The exterior paint seems to be a dust magnet. I wish the rear seats would fold flat (there I go again, wishing for everything). Initially, I found the driver's seat slightly uncomfortable, even with lumbar support engaged; but I am now getting used to it, and it feels better and better.
People who have spent over ten thousand dollars more on their cars have compared their cars to mine; theirs have fallen short. I am practicing hiding my elation.
For what it is worth, complete strangers have complemented its looks at parking lots....read morehide6 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- surprising handling
- Cons
- could use a little more horsepower

I am a 60s senior citizen...have rode motorcycles all my life and am still here. So I can still drive. I was looking at the Hyundai Tuscon and Elantra sedan. There were no new sedans on the lot and the Tuscon drove well but was pricey. The dealer said the new updated Elantra sedans were sold as fast as they arrived and he had none. As I was about to leave I saw this funny little "Station Wagon".. on the back of the lot. I do not remember seeing one on the road, (before or after I bought it). All I can say is, they call it a Touring.. but it is a small wagon. The surprise was, although it dosn't have any more power than my previous 2 door hatch Ford Focus, this little wagon will run through the curves in my local mountains just as well as the Focus. I am sure the traction control and anti-roll or whatever it has helps, but the handling at speed is like riding a sport bike. So when all of you in your good looking SUVs see the little station wagon going up the hill pretty much running with a Mazda 3, that would be me. P.S. you also get 65 sq feet seats down of storage and a smooth long wheelbase ride as a bonus. First tank of gas mostly around town driving was 23mpg. I bet it will get 30+ on a highway trip, but haven't done that yet.... my reliability rating is based on the Hyundai reviews by the pros as I haven't had it long enough for a personal view, everything works fine so far.....Drive safe...read morehide
