I had a 2012 Elantra and drove it for 2 months. This car is decent, drove well, & gas mileage was decent. Unfortunately I had an accident in the car which was totally unsafe. The car did not have good traction which caused the crash. The steering wheel collapsed & broke both my legs. Also, the airbag did not deploy, which caused my face to hit the steering wheel and a puncture in my lung. I am very disappointed for a new model car to have such substandard safety features, and for them to not perform adequately! This car caused more injury than safety!...read morehide

- Pros
- Cute car
- Cons
- Terrible gas mileage, bluetooth cheap and problematic
Purchased As New
The main reason I leased this car was for the gas mileage. As of now, at a little over 7500 miles, I am still getting horrible mileage. I was told that the car wouldn't start seeing decent mileage until it was broken in at 2000 miles, then at 5000, then at 7500 miles. Now, I'm told it could be 15,000 miles before I start getting the mileage I had expected. Seems to be a common complaint, from what the service manager told me.
The BlueLink bluetooth is problematic; it doesn't work as often as it does works. Again, the service manager told me that since it's a device new to Hyundai, there are a lot of bugs to work out and they've had many complaints.
A minor issue is the placement of the front dash air vent. The vent is positioned so that when your hands are on the steering wheel they block the air coming from the vent.
Not to mention that neither the sales person nor the finance manager told me about the $400 fee I would have to pay when my lease was up (a return fee, waived only if I buy the car or lease another from them) or that the Sirius Radio would expire in 90 days (I was led to believe it was part of the package).
So, Hyundai misled me on the gas mileage, downplayed the cheapness of the bluetooth, hid a $400 fee from me, and lied about Sirius. Once my lease is up, I'm walking away from this car and from Hyundai permanently!
Oh.....and I REALLY hate when everyone I deal with at Hyundai makes sure to tell me to please give them all 10's when I get the evaluation. Seems they're more interested in getting a good rating than in being honest about their cars....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Comfortable ride, nice interior
- Cons
- Paint chips too easy
Purchased As New
I was super excited to purchase this car because it was the first brand new car I ever purchased. I really like the way my car looks and I find that, for the price, the interior offers a lot of things that similarly priced cars don't have. I drive 50 miles round trip every day, and I think it's a smooth and comfortable ride. There's also enough leg room in the passenger seat for my 6'3 husband to ride comfortable.
Negatives- The paint has already started to chip due to rocks being thrown into the front end. None of the chips are very big, but they go down to the metal. Not covered under warranty. Also, car has zero get up and go, but that's to be expected in a 4 cylinder.
Gas mileage- At first my gas mileage was not as promised, but now that I've hit 5000 miles, its getting closer to the advertised stick mileage. Note* calculate your own mileage. The computer in the car is consistently much higher than your actual mileage....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Good Over All Car
- Cons
- Ride is a little rough and the acceleration is not the best.
Purchased As New
Over all you cant beat this car! The only things that I wish was better was the acceleration and handling. But you don't buy and Elantra for handling and acceleration. Great gas mileage. Even with those two things this car is great buy! Make sure you read the reviews most of the bad reviews are from people that never bought the car. I had a Toyota and I can say that I am now a proud Hyundai owner and I dont think will ever go back....read morehide

Ride is a lot better than other cars at this price. This is all around the best card I could find compared to others. It has a lot more room inside for seating (5) and room for good size trunk. Power is more than needed and get over 40mpg. At 55mph I got 50mpg from Tulsa to Louisville, KY. This car is fully loaded except for power seat, but has all other options to include heated seat and Navigation. Worth every penny and save a lot of money to include oil changes only every 7,000 miles....read morehide

the elantra is beautiful and performs well. the problem is the supension is poor when passing thru bumps. Here in puerto rico you have long bumps in school areas used to slow down when crossing.

- Pros
- Great mileage
- Cons
- No spare tire. Stiff suspension. Blind spots.

Dealer never told me it didn't come with a spare. The free roadside service doesn't do you any good if you are on back roads with no cell service. That is 97% of South Carolina unless you are in a large city or on the interstate. Gas mileage is 40+ if you stay between 55-65. At 75 I've been getting 38-39 on a level road. Brakes stop it on a dime, and the handling is super....read morehide

- Pros
- Excellent fuel economy, great standard features, warranty
- Cons
- Ride is a bit rough, no spare tire

I bought this car to replace my 2003 Ford Ranger. I need something that gets better gas mileage, and I was not disappointed. I was little worried after reading some of the reviews, but have pleased with the mileage. I am not getting the advertised 40mpg, but this has more to do with where I drive than with the car. I am averaging about 35mpg and I live 46 miles from work in the mountains. I took the car on a trip to another office, 150 miles North and averaged a little over 37 mpg. Thus, it is ,y opinion that if you stick with the speed limits, 65 mph or less, and away from the mountains, the car will get close to 40mpg.
Everything else about the car is wonderful. Great looks. Good standard stereo and the Bluetooth is wonderful. All for a reasonable price.
I highly recommend this car....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Nice looking
- Cons
- Real bad handling. rear wheels do not track front.
Purchased As New
Ok car for driving around town. My average gas milage is 31 with the eco button on. 28 with it off. 25% city 75% highway. The rear wheels do not track well. I'm scared to see what it is going to do in bad weather. (snow) You sit real low so you get no air flow around lower body. Even with all the windows down. Can't rest your arm on window sill. Blue-tooth works great. Ipod connection needs Hyundias cable and only shows Hyundia logo and title on face of Ipod...read morehide
