- Cons
- Doesn't absorb large bumps that well; heat shield (dealer fixed); center air vents a tad low

I have had this car since September 2011. Took me a while to find a manual transmission. Was needing to replace my '98 civic and get a larger car with great economy. Wanted to find a used Accord or some other solid car...I didn't realize I would be getting a Hyundai. Never wanted one.
I am so glad I did. I live in Houston and commute in a busy city to and from work. I still get 32-34 mpg in city. My best highway mileage with two adults and a full trunk with A/C going was 42 mpg...Yes, I drove over 70.
The space is remarkable...a huge upgrade for me over the Civic. I get my 4 kids and all school gear in the car daily. I love dropping off in the carpool line surrounded by SUVs that get horrific mpg. I love the car. Better than my '98 civic, '00 accord, '92 tercel...I have not been disappointed.
So far I am at 26k miles. Those are happy miles....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

I would like to share my thoughts on the Elantra. Wow So disappointed in the Elantra.
Compared to the Honda Civic. the Honda Civic. gets about the same MPH as the Elantra. but the civic. overall is a better car, with better Handling, comfort, less road noise, and most of all. the civic, has the best resale value. I have worked on Cars of all types for over 16 years. so I have some experience.
I talked my wife into selling her 10 year old Honda and buying a used Elantra. I wanted her to have a car with low mileage and a warranty. sometimes I have to leave town for work and I wanted to make sure she had no problems. while I was at the Dealership. I looked at the new 2012 Elantra. I under stand that the car would not get the estimated mileage on the sticker. but the salesman talked me into trading my car in based on the money I would save buying the new Hyundai. Here is what I fount out. the Elantra only get gets 3 more miles to the gallon than my other car. it dose not get the mileage the sales person told us. what I gave up is handling. comfort, and more. I am saving about $20.00 a month.
the car has so much road noise I have to crank up the stereo to here it. the stereo. is one of the worst I have had. I swear I can hear the wind blowing through my windshield right above the rear view mirror. the seats are not very comfortable, my last car was a better car, and only had 50,000 miles on it. this car is not comfortable especially for long road trips. my wife's Elantra wow. this car came with the Hyundai. certified used car warranty. all 4 tires were bald on the inside. so you couldn't see it. it was out of alignment. and we just found out the Transmission Had never been serviced.. and now it has a electrical problem. the Car only has 40,000 miles on it.
that over $700.00 we had to put into a certified used car. this car gets less mileage that her 10 year old civic. and also has more road noise, ect. Now her interior is more comfortable than my new car and she cant ride in my car for long periods of time. she has a bad back. I only had 1 year left to pay off my other car. then I would have about 4 to five years of no payments. I would take that money and save it for my next. car. i figured to have my last car 8 to ten years, and then buy another new car. this way it keeps my payment down. Now I get a letter stating Hyundai will give me credit for the mileage the car doesn't get, great. that doesn't solve the the comfort, and other problems I have with this car. If I trade it in on sothing else I will take a loss. I cant see having this car for 10 years. Thanks Rick Pettry...read morehide3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Great shifter, automatic or triptronic.
Comfortable ride.
Good ergonomics and very roomy. Good size trunk.
Good looks.
Great sound system.
Could do with maybe 20-30 horses more but its definitely not a slug, quite agile for the comfort it offers.
Good value and good gas milage.
I think it sets the standard in its class....read morehide0 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Spacious interior, easy to use controls, looks great, and is affordable.
- Cons
- Ride is rough especially over bumps and mpg much lower than expected.

I've had my car 10 months, put over 15K (50/50 city/highway). The car shows mpg of 32, but when I do the math myself I only get 28/29 (@ 280 miles when putting in @10 gals. of gas). I have achieved a 40+ mpg (based on computer) going 55 mph over a fairly flat terrain.
I had to replace the stereo twice within the first month, but have had no issues since.
Eco mode really subdues the performance, but it can be turned off for more spirited driving.
Seats aren't great for long drives but are good enough for drives around town.
Visibility out the back is limited so extra caution should be taken while in reverse....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

my wife fell in love with the limited light blue (carolina) blue color the first time she sat in it. Thankfully dealer was willing to match truecar.com price, and I still believe I got a very good deal. Only grevences...... we had little misshab, and had to exchange 2 tires, and no one at all, in decent size city, even official dealer did not cary even one pair of sporty tires that goes on them........had to replace them with cooper time.....somewhat different look......read morehide

- Pros
- Very respectable style, leather trim, braking, warranty, service
- Cons
- Suspension / handling, horrible mpg, no spare tire (who does that?!)
Purchased As New
Good value for the money (except for the spare tire issue ... which I didn't even notice until I needed one) :(
I was attracted to the Limited for its style and price point. The vehicle comes with an excellent warranty *bringing the car in for scheduled maintenance is not a dreadful experience (as it is with most other manufacturers).
The ride, however, is very rough and definitely does not get the kind of gas mileage I expected.
Overall, I would recommend the Limited for style, appearance, comfort and VALUE points (especially if you want to try something different and are sick of driving VWs)....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Style, comfort and fits 3 kids in the back
- Cons
- A little thirsty
Purchased As New
This car goes beyond what American manufacturers have to offer. It has guts, goes around corners in a snap and can fit my three little ones in the back. Child #1 in a baby seat, child #2 on a booster and child #3 in the middle. Ok so I'm not going to drive cross country with the kids like this but it's perfect for everyday pickup and dropoffs to daycare and school. The style is amazing, the price is right and if you keep the RPMs down, it's a great car on gas. How many other small cars can fit an adult in the back when the front seat are back all the way. If you expect $20,000 to get you a living room on wheels, you should look somewhere else. This is an awesome car....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- Pros
- The exterior is very complicated looking. The interior design is good.
- Cons
- The roof isn't tall enough. Very, very bumpy ride.
Purchased As Not Purchased
I was a passenger. This car is not for tall people. The ride itself is very rough. I got carsick just by sitting in the back, and I couldn't sit upright. I had to slouch down dramatically.
