- Pros
- Same quality rating as a Ford based on 2012 stats
- Cons
- Looks like European luxury car knockoff

I thought it was a sharp car with all the bells and whistles with a good quality rating but ended up feeling like it was going to fall apart after 15k miles. Pothole season in the Midwest is way too much for this thing to handle. 2 cracked expensive rims and increasing number of interior rattles, which seem to not exist when the car goes in for service, is just too much too bare when the resident frequency of the part seems to always occur between the speeds of 25 to 50 mph. With it there is the stigma of buying a knockoff when you really could get a nice Caddy or Audi at a comparable price. Plus I would say compare before you buy. Drive this first! If you like to drive and really enjoy performance this thing will be forgotten after test driving a real car....read morehide

I noticed this car at the 2011 car show. I like the body style. In 2012, my wife bought a Genesis; I was so pleased with it that I decided to purchase an Equus. I have owned Mercedes and BMW cars since 1986. Just traded a 750LI for the Equus. It is head and shoulders above any BMW or Mercedes that I have had. I really like the horsepower. Gas mileage is about equal to other cars that I have had recently. I would recommend it to all of my friends.
On push button cars, make sure the car is in park before getting out of the car -- otherwise, it may roll....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Looks good - rides good.

- A/C underperforms in hot weather. Valet service is a joke!!!!
Purchased As New
I looked at several cars prior to my purchase in December of 2011. The dealers kept telling me how reliable the Equus was and emphasized their "valet service". Overall I have been happy with the performance of the car.
As summer wore on I noticed that the interior of the car would get to 82 degrees on a hot summer day with the a/c at maximum settings. I contacted Equus and they set up an appointment with Alexandria Hyundai. As a part of their valet service they are supposed to pick up the car at my location and deliver a "luxury" loaner car, either an Equus or Genesis. Alexandria Hyundai has cancelled 3 times because they have only "1 luxury loaner car". When I commented that this was the third time that this had happened I was told that it was because the person that had the loaner car out was not satisfied with his service so they were still working on his car!!!!!! What a joke.
If Equus and Alexandria Hyundai wants to play with the big boys (Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Infiniti) they should put up or shut up.
We were considering purchasing a Genesis as our second car but based upon the unkept promises of Equus I guess we won't be spending any more of our money on a Hyundai.
Do yourself a favor, spend the extra bucks and get a car that has some support behind it - not just a lot of hot air....read morehide3 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

I had a lexus 2007 ls460l with all the toys like ultimate trade in for this, because wasting at least 3 hrs at the lexus dealer and commute for every service. This car attract a lot of attention (not white nor asian). People ask me is a maybach, mb, and lexus? and all right but a hyundai copy. Every cars company start out this way. For me is the comfort, speed and value. The best of all is white glove service for 5yrs. If I compare and apple to apple (not price) LS460L win. ls drive is smoother and avg 20mpg but equus about 15mpg. equus have more road noise and wind noise. LS is deadly silence, more rear legroom. if you 5'7" or taller recliner are useless. My daughter love it, she only 7 yrs old. Hopefully this car more reliable than mb or bmw or audi or come close to lexus....read morehide

- Cons
- glare, nav brightness...see review

two major drawbacks in design. front hood has a downward crease along windshield that catches a glare in bright sunlight. The navigation system while it has a seperate night screen from the dayscreen doesn't let you to independently set the brightness. Whenever I go from night or day, I need to go through the menus and adjust the night i need about 25% brightness...
Other than those issues, it is the best feature ladden car I have ever owned. The continuously dampening suspension is what every car maker should prefect
Gas mileage is really good when you consider this is a 4500 sedan, and it has a 429 HP motor. Power is smooth except for wide open is a little untamed....read morehide6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

I had to replace the transmition, the first time, before 60K miles. The second time around 80K. There's no ashtray and when I'm hauling mulch in the back the milege drops way down. The rear end gets away from me in the snow. Because of the ashtray thing I gave up smoking. Now I'm saving so much money I don't care about the gas mileage. If you have to drive in the snow throw some cinder blocks in the back...read morehide

Why do people write reviews about a car they haven't purchased , and give it a low rating . Your opinion is like the old saying , everyone has one. If you are in the market of buying a new car only read the reviews on the people who actually bought the car.

Hyundai is trying very hard to bring luxury line in to US market. However, their people work like old days. Buy one Hyundai and they don't care if they come back to them or not.
I am having a problem with my trunk which opens randomly by itself and I even have the video of this happening. Yet, this service Rep refuse to fix my car and keep insisting I need to demonstrate to him in person. I already have video and why I need to show him which happense randomly. I have video showing this happening, but they don't want to fix the problem. Hyundai should train their people how to sell luxury car before they can bring their luxury line into US. Until then they should stay with their Accent....read morehide3 out of 14 people found this review helpful.

I bought this car in October 2011. I can't understand why some people think that Hyundai 20 years ago was junk, so this must be also. They are nuts. I will take this car any day over M-B S Class, BMW 7 series, or the big Lexus, and have an extra 20 to 30,000 bucks left over.
The power is fantastic- 429 HP- and the 8 speed transmission is seamless. On the highway, I am getting 25 mpg at 75-80 mph. In town 15 to 16 mpg.
Front seats are heated and cooled and the cooling really works. The steering wheel heats up in about 15 seconds.
The massage seats really work very well.
I hardly ever use a cell phone, but I got the bluetooth working in about 10 minutes.
There is double pane glass everywhere except the rear window which has a power shade. This results in a whisper quiet car.
The comfort and handling are just fine in a car of this class.
I enjoy it more and more every day....read morehide14 out of 15 people found this review helpful.
